A couple months ago I discovered a real flashlight! A streamlight 3C model. I was beyond myself with this light and how bright it is! I then purchased a pro tac 2L for my pocket to add to my edc, again..... Sheesh that thing is bright and fits in my hand.

After I found quality flashlights my google foo was on and I discovered Fenix. Since then I now have a fenix e21, woooo I love that thing!

After I discovered quality lights I tossed my maglights! I now consider maglight junk and behind on times.

Any other flashlight junkys here?

I just checked the time stamps of the above posts. Does flashlight addiction have anything to do with being up in the middle of the night?

Andy

P.S. What's my excuse? I ate something last evening which interferes with my sleep -I'll go back to bed shortly.

P.P.S. BTW, I bought my first "real" flashlight several months ago -a Fenix LD20. Finally, a light that actually works.

How's that LD20?

Yes i am a Flashlight Junkie. I carry one in my pocket here at my place 100% of the time, a Surefire E1e. I use it several times a day.

When ever I leave my place, I carry my A2 Aviator, and the E1e...

When I travel and hunt I carry several other SureFires including a M6.

I use SureFires for weapon Lights as well. I have never had a SureFire fail me.

They are well worth the money IMHO...

But they still make a fine case to hold quality parts for a nice light. I bought a Black Bear light many years ago when they only put out a little over 950 lumens. Since then output has gone up as well as the availibility of different versions and accessories.

Welcome to Black Bear Flashlights

My EDC flashlight is a Streamlight ProTac 2AA and it ROCKS!!! Light, thin, and really bright. I've also been amazed at how long and how bright this light runs on just 2 AA batteries. Highly recomended.

You never know how many times, day or night, that you could use a light until you EDC one.

I don't know if I would classify as a junkie, but I always carry a powerful pocket light, the one in my pocket now with a Cree R5 emitter throws 230 lumens on high using a 14500 rechargeable. I can't afford those expensive Surefire brand lights so all mine come from Deal Extreme where I can get or build lights with far more power than a Surefire for one quarter the cost.

I was given an Underwater Kenetics 22101 Yellow flashlight at a trade show last month. This is the BEST flashlight I've ever used. I was testing it in the back yard and my wife thought it was heat lightening.

Certainly better than anything I've ever had or seen. It's actually more than I need for my purposes -two modes with five settings, but I wanted one with squared shoulders so it would not roll off a table, and one with a clip so I could stick it in my pocket without worrying it would come out. This one had both those features, so I bought it.

Here's my experience with Fenix. I have a TK11,LD25 and a E21. I bought the TK11 for a weapon light that's on a gun in my safe, I think I've turned it on maybe a half dozen times to check to see if it's working. It works only because it's not used.
The LD25 worked for about six months and then one of the modes stopped working. Sense I bought these on line directly from Fenix, I sent it back under warranty for repair. Long story short, they had to send it to CHINA for repairs. After nine weeks I finally got it back. The absolute worst customer service I've ever seen in my 55 years.
The E21 was my wifes light. This light is about eight months old. It gets so hot that it corrodes the battery's within a couple of weeks. She told me the other night that it stopped working. After messing with it for awhile, I threw it in the garbage.
I hope you guy's have better luck with yours!!!

"Be Prepared" I am on old Boy Scout and maybe that is why I am so fond of guns and flashlights. It seems that most gun folks have more lights than non-gun folks.

The Zebralight SC30w is in my pocket every workday. The TAD edition Lenslight titanium mini is my weekend light. I have several others but use these the most.

FLASHLIGHTS

For my money I like the Streamlight Stinger, with 2, on-off switches, one on the side and one on the end. They stay bright for a long time, are rechargable and are guaranteed. I have several one in each of the cars.
The second light that I have and really like is the 5.11 Tactical series light for life. You get between 1-2 hours of light and it recharges in 90 seconds either on 12 volt or 110. Great Lights!

I just can't get into tiny little lights that take those little 123 batteries.

I have been buying as many quality 6 volt lights and bulbs that I can find. I need to take a good photo, but my favorite are the 1950's Ray-o-vac Sportsman lights- for their time and even today, they are very bright. Just make certain when you buy batteries for those things, that you get an alkaline 6v, and not a carbon one. I'm planning on gutting one of those batteries soon so I can make a holder using the new generation of rechargeable AA's (which hold charge far longer without use) that will fit inside of it. :)

If a flashlight isn't big and heavy enough to use it as a weapon, what good is it? A 6 cell Maglight is a fairly significant club. :D

I guess I'm a flahslight junky, just in a differnt way.

I recently picked up an Olight Warrior M20S-X. As beefy and sturdy as this thing is, I can't imagine dishing out twice the $$ for a Surefire.

Truth be told, I work in a school in a pretty rough area, and it's about the only thing I'm allowed to have that I could actually defend myself with.

I wrote an aticle on Princeton-Tec lights and have about eight, in various sizes. The one with two AAA's (Blast model) is a common pocket light, even in my home, lest we experience a power failure or I need to find something in a dark corner of a closet. The one by the computer takes four AA's, their Tec-40 model. Very compact for what it does. It's brighter than my old 3 C-cell MagLite or my ancient (1980) Kel-Lite, which is the high-end model with three-position switch. (Four C-cells) I also rely on their four AAA (Rage model). One is by the bed, along with their LED version, which isn't as bright, but the batteries last a long time. I used to read with it in my car at work.

When I go out, I take a tiny Inova that takes a single AA. It's very bright, made of tough aluminum, and is just a brilliant item. And I have a larger Inova with a startlingly bright beam. I began using it in lieu of the big Kel-Lite in my final three years of security work that augmented my income as a writer. Too small to be a club, it could be a kongo stick, I guess.

I don't see Inova mentioned much on the Net, but they seem very well made and a better value than SureFire.

I've been fascinated by good flashlights since I was a kid.

One of my favorite flashlight stories involved my son searching the basement of one of Saddam Hussein's palaces in 2003. His weapon light went dead and he had to find his way out with an Inova light about the size of a quarter. Fortunately, no enemy troops were in that basement...
