I do not want to debate the merits, but living in New Jersey I would support national shall issue in return for universal background check and red flag laws.

Is anyone at the national level pushing or at least proposing such a compromise?

Given the vagaries associated with LEOSA, there’s no way national carry will be supported, even amongst gun carriers, and it has not appeared in any legislative suggestions I’ve read about . . .

There is actually no federal law mandating driver's license reciprocity nor the requirements for issuance or denial of a driver's license. Given the events of the past few weeks, I don't think there will ever be a federal law for CCW reciprocity much less a federal law regarding "shall issue" vs "may issue". The shall issue vs may issue debate might be settled by the Supreme Court based on if it can be proven that "may issue" violates a person's right to keep and bare arms.

NO to red Flag Laws; it makes you guilty without due process - you really want someone who is mad at you have you Red Flagged?

No, nor should we. There is no compromise on this issue, none at all. The problem being that every compromise costs us a right. Every compromise is step towards the ultimate goal of complete gun confiscation.

A national carry system run by the federal government is probably the worst idea ever.

A while back there were some proposed Bills that would have more or less required all states to honor any state’s carry permit
