First, not all military Mwhatevers are Colt. Besides the years FN held the contracts, there have been both specialized unit buys of non contract weaponry and the DOD itself has apparently gone on the open market at times.
The term "LE use" has wide variations in application. Given the military budget cuts, I expect that some "LE training" involves far more rounds than current military use. I'll also note we broke more Colt bolts than S&W. YOU buy Cot replacements.
