Any suggestions for loading 225 FTX in the 45 Colt for the 460 XVR?

Certain factory manuals have 45 Colt loads ONLY for a Ruger i.e. stronger action - so I'd extrapolate off of those loadings for use in a 460 which is obviously a strong action.

I have a 45Colt that I will be loading that bullet in soon. Haven't loaded it yet though.
I called Hornady and asked them what they recommended for the 225gr 44 caliber FTX and was told to use 240gr data.
I did and there was no problem. Only problem is, is that they are too expensive to fool around much with!
If it was me, I would use John Linebaugh's data for W296/H110 and a 250gr bullet in the 45Colt for a starting load and work up from there. His loads are on his website, I think.
What are you going to be shooting them out of?
I recently shot my 230gr LRN out of my Puma rifle and Ruger 45 Convertible with fair results. What I found was that I needed more powder and a firmer crimp to get them to be more consistent. I used John's starting load for a 260gr bullet. Mine has no crimp groove being it is a 45ACP bullet. I am going to seat it deeper and crimp over the end of the driving band. That should help.
With the FTX you have a canalure to crimp in, use it. If you take my suggestion on the load to start with, make sure you have a firm crimp to aid with the starting load.

I'm going to shoot them from my 460XVR 8 3/8". I'm looking towards the Ruger/TC loads. I figured I would ask some questions first to see if anyone else has tinkered with the idea. Realizing these are somewhat expensive I still want to try them since I have a box.

Ya know thought ran thru my mind. LOL. I'm just not sure how strong this bullet is. I think I could use trailboss. Isn't that the powder that ya fill the case to the base of the bullet, weigh it, then reduce that by 70% as a starting load, but that's off the top of my head so I'm just talking here.

I was told when loading for the 500S&W by Hodgdon to mark the case where the bullet base would sit and fill it to there with Trail Boss, no reduction required.
It gave me 1200fps from the H&R Handi-Rifle I was shooting it out of. Oh, that was a 300gr Gold Dot though.
I think that bullet will hold up to anything you can put to it. All it is is an XTP with a red plastic thingy stuck in the end of it. XTP bullets are tough. This one is no different in that regard.
If I wanted to push these babies, I would use data from the 460 with a slightly heavier XTP bullet, seat to the short end of the canalure, crimp like crazy and let her fly. Should get you somewhere in the neighborhood of 2500fps from that 8 3/8" barrel! Maybe just a little less. I can tell you that that bullet will take that velocity just fine.
