Any wood experts?

I picked up these 1911 grips on that site because price was right, and love the grain in the wood.
But I am curious as to what type of wood it is. No marking on them except pencil 751 or 757.
If you have any ideas let me know. Thanks, Bob

I agree….it does look like dark stained oak. Here's a photo from an antique bookcase. (Fair warning, I am not an expert.)

Looks like what they used to call tiger oak or something like that way back when. I remember it was very desirable and rare for oak furniture.
 
Sorta looks like pheasant wood or maybe macadamia. There's a few websites that can show you hundreds of types of wood, a google search will send you down that rabbit hole...

Go back to the Seller / Dealer ... all woods imported must be declared as to species ... some woods are prohibited from import ( like Brazillian Rosewood) ... so the importer has to identify the wood ...This company is probably the one who imports their grips from another country ... if so ...
