I know there's some Springfield 1911 EMP fans on this forum so show me your pistols. Here's mine. About 6 years ago I bought a new Springfield 1911 EMP-4, 9mm. Shortly after the purchase I done some modifications on this gun as the pictures will show and it's one of the best shooting 9mm pistols I've got. The recoil on this 4" Springfield 1911 EMP is so mild it's a pleasure to shoot. Tell me what you think about the finished product and how it looks. It is one of my favorite semi-auto pistols. It's always in my range bag when I get to go shoot, which doesn't happen as often as it should anymore. I didn't want to hijack the thread that mk70ss had on his Springfield 1911 Garrison in 9mm, so thought I would start another thread.

No experience with the EMP4 model, but several years ago my brother bought a new EMP, with 3" barrel IIRC. As an old 1911 guy, I thought the scaled down to 9mm size EMP would feel weird; I was wrong. As received, his was a terrible Jammamatic. Sent it back to SA. They fixed the issues, and it came back as a very reliable little pistol, no matter what ammo we tried in it. Overall, neat little pistols I think..

I've got a 3 inch 9mm EMP that splits carry time in the warmer months with my long time carry SA Micro Compact .45 acp. I don't think I've had a single malfunction with the EMP with approximately 1500rds thru it. The only issue I have is that it shoots low with all bullet weights. (Better low than too high) The closest I've come to POA/POI for carry ammo is Federal's apparently discontinued 150gr HST Micro round. I guess I will just have to be very judicious in my use of my remaining stash. I'm a long time 1911 guy and also wondered if the scaled down grip would alter the feel in my hand too much, I can honestly say it feels great and points/shoots just as instinctively for me as my .45acp framed guns.

Actually the Springfield 1911 EMP 4 shares the interchangeability of most internal components with the regular size 1911's except the grip frame from front to back is 1/8" less so that makes the trigger 1/8" shorter than the full size 1911 trigger. The grip panels are thinner and I like the feel so well that I installed the thinner grip panels on several of my 1911 .45 caliber guns. The Hammer & Sear, magazine release, slide stop, grip safety, main spring, manual safety lever, and main spring housing, all interchange. I enjoy shooting this pistol and it's had a lot of rounds through it and jamming has never been a problem.

I bought a SA EMP 9mm before the EMP-4 was introduced and it's a good pistol, no problems at all with it.

I have a pair of them, the original "Champion" version. One is 9mm, the other is .40S&W. I like the .40 better and it is one of my preferred EDC's. I don't think I've shot the 9mm more than a couple of times. I bought them as a set.

Actually, the slides will also interchange with a full-size 1911, at least they will fit on the rails, although they are too short. The 9mm frame is alloy, and the .40S&W (no longer manufactured) is a steel frame and noticeably heavier than the 9mm.

All right, I've been waiting for an Electro-Magnetic Pulse gun for decades!

I've always wanted a photon torpedo.

No seriously I had my eye on an EMP in 40 S&W for quite some time, never got around to getting one. GB it is
