Anybody know who made the mold for this bullet?

Badman makes my favorite cast bullet for 38 Special/357 Magnum loads. (see the picture) It's extremely accurate out of my Rossi rifle. Unfortunately, like many other suppliers these days, Badman is usually out of stock. So I'm thinking of taking up casting. I'm having a hard time find a mold that matches up with the Badman bullet.

This is the Badman bullet: 38 and 357 Caliber 157 Grain RNFP Cast Lead Bullets Qty 500 I like that it has two lube grooves and a flat base.

The closest I've found is this one from RCBS, but it only has a single lube groove. RCBS 2-Cavity Cowboy Bullet Mold 38-158-CM 38 Cal (358 Diameter) 158

Anybody have an idea where I can score a mold like the Badman design? Specifically a 38 cal, round nose flat point, flat base, two groove mold?

Thanks!

Maybe you could ask them?

I received an answer from Patrick at Badman. He said it's their mold and a custom design. So my search for that particular design is over. It would have been great if it were commercially available. I do understand why he might not want to give up that info since his business is selling bullets.

I appreciate everybody's responses. I think I'll be able to score a close equivalent to Badman's design, but with a single lube groove. Should be fine, methinks.

That looks very much like an LBT long flat nose design.
Send them one of your bullets and I am sure they will make something very close if not identical.
(I shoot a lot of Veral Smith's bullets but do not cast my own)
His book "Jacketed performance with cast bullets" is a classic and recommended even for those of us who don't cast.

I would consider the NOE design , that's a good bullet .

Most commerical casters use automatic casting machines and the moulds for those machines are not available to regular people who use a mould with handles and cast at home .
You can have Accurate Molds or NOE custom make a mould with handles for you . Send them a cast bullet ...they Can reproduce it easily . But the one NOE catalogs looks good and I'm sure Accurate Molds would have something similar .
A round-flat 38 design is quite popular these days .
For $25.00 you can get the Lee #358-158-RF , 2 cavity w/ handles ... true it only has one lube groove but for the price it's a good way to see if you want to get into casting deeper .
A electric pot and dipper will get you going just fine .

Contact Tom at Accurate. I'm sure held build it.

Lee made a similar mold years ago, but they changed their design slightly and now I think the nose is slightly shorter and has a wider flat. (I hope I don't have that backwards.)

In any case, you might look into the Lee mold. If it will feed smoothly in your rifle you might find it's pretty accurate. I've had good luck with both the early- and present-designs in my revolvers. It would be an inexpensive experiment that you could probably make use of in your handguns if the rifle didn't happen to like it.
