I will only concealed carry a 44 and the only one I'll carry is my 296. An ounce or two heavier with a 696 SS cylinder but still so light I don't need a holster. In fact I don't even need to draw it if it's in the correct pocket. I like that a lot.
I carry several different 3" 44s on the trail, from a 624 3" to Colt and Ruger SA 3 inchers. A Smith 500 3" in big bear country.
