Anyone else had it with Keurig yet?

I appreciate the Keurig for the occasional times when a single cup is what I want but most of the time I want more. I also never found a Keurig with a timer. I want to hear the coffee making as I wake up at 4:30 every day.

My kids gave me their old one and I gave it back. They then gave me a new one. I used it a few months and gave it back. I am using an old Presto percolator that works very well and makes good coffee. It even kept up with my son, a retire Navy Chief that was home a while back.

Us old Navy Chiefs will drink bilge water if it's hot and black enough.

Brother-in-law gave us a Keurig for Christmas several years ago. We liked it, wife has her fancy coffee blends and I have my usual high-octane, always fresh and not sitting around and going rancid or bitter.

That machine crapped out after a year or so and we purchased another. Still going well after 4 or 5 years.

Probably went through a dozen Mr. Coffee machines over the years. They do a decent job but they never last more than a couple of years.

In the camping gear I have a very old blue-enameled steel percolator, works on a camp stove, works on a camp fire, works in the camper. Brew up a pot while the sun is thinking about coming up, pour it into the stainless steel thermos bottle, still good at lunch time. Ugly and crusty, never experienced a thorough cleaning or dish soap, but it keeps chugging along just fine.

The first time these hit the market it just kind of seemed to me like a more expensive, annoying way to make coffee. I never wanted to own one.

Friends have them so I've used them many times and it reaffirmed my initial thoughts.

I'm using your basic old school pot, filter and Maxwell House. I'm drinking 8-10 cups daily and enjoying it thoroughly.

What’s your time in the 40? ;)

Even though I have an old GE coffee maker stashed on top of the kitchen cabinet (packrattery dies hard), I have been using whiz bang percolators with grinders in them. My dad gave me a Cuisinart percolator and grinder which gave me many years of good service. When it gave up the ghost, I replaced it with a similar machine from Hamilton Beach. I drink microwave tea most of the time, but when my brother came down to take care of me during my cataract surgery we gave the Hamilton Beach machine a good workout.

If there's no leftover coffee in the Mr. Coffee, I make a cup with my Bunn "My Café" (Keurig clone) to wake me up enough to make a pot. If it's late in the day and I want coffee, I'll brew up a cup of decaf with the Bunn.

I like Peets French roast, thick.

The machines last much longer now that I use spring or distilled water. I have my favorite K-cups (Peets dark roast house blend and McCafe premium roast medium) and even have a 1 cup brew model I take to the track. At 50 cents a cup..well worth the bold fresh and hot evey time coffee.

Kettle and cheap Ikea French press. I can vary the strength of the coffee, though I can’t imagine not wanting it rich and sassy, like my wimmin.

We love our Keurig. It makes hot coffee, iced coffee, hot water for tea, hot chocolate, etc.
Interestingly, our first one died after 2 years. My wife contacted them and they sent us a new one. We have since invested in a more versatile model for home. The replacement unit is at my shop. Both get a lot of use and have been flawless.

The wife drinks one cup a day from her Keurig and likes it.

My nephew, Brother Bears Coffee custom roasts my coffee and ships it the same day. I birr grind two days worth and drink 4 cups/day through expresso machine.

The two machines sit side by side and everything is copasetic.

I am a long time Keurig fan. When we recently moved Ruthie said the old reliable red Keurig would clash with her new kitchen decor.

To my way of thinking, kitchens don't have decor in the same way that wrenches don't have styling.

...and now you know why I was single until past 40.:D

You guys are hilarious! I've really enjoyed all of your posts!!!! I hope those of you that use the Keurig's to keep experiencing great results! Those that use something different, I hope you keep enjoying your choices! Those that initially saw it as a gimmick, I bow to your wisdom!!!! Hahah!!!!

^^^^^Double what Dave said ^^^^^

Make my coffee dripped into a pot. One cup at a time won't work for us.
Got a Nespresso for espresso 8 years back. Use it every day with no issues.

Had a Nespresso machine when they first came out. Great machine. Very well built and easy to use. The only problem was, at the time, you could only get the coffee 1 place. Nestle. Kinda inconvenient. My roommate bought a superautomatic which grinds the beans automatically as needed. We never looked back.
