They seem to be multiplying here.

Around 2002 I stumbled into a deal at a local gun shop. They had bought a bunch of Limited Run Marlin 1894CP Carbines. A 38/357 Mag 16.25 inch ported barrel Carbine that still had the top quality wood and fitting of older Marlins. The little Carbine is extremely handy and an excellent shooter.

short barrel lever gun

I have just one, an 18 inch Taylor's Uberti Comanchero in .357
I have a lot more 38 brass than 357, so I worked up a load in .38 Spec that has sufficient length to feed and chamber reliably.
It's a heavy gun, so it's a joy to shoot with that load, much like a .22 LR on steroids.

Yup, a big fan. I’ve got a 45/70 Guide Gun, a 1894P 44 Mag, a 1894 LTD in 45 Colt, and a 1894CP 357. I’ve got a S&W N Frame that pairs with each, except the 45/70. :)

Lurking various sites on the hunt for a model 39 TDS still.

It’s a sickness…

I believe they are the most fun rifle to be had. Besides that, they are exceedingly useful for everything, but wing shooting.. My favorites are the 30-30, 357 and 22 lr of course. That is a nice collection you got there wcat94.

Yep, I think short lever guns are quite handy hunting rifles especially in big woods. I have a customized Marlin 336Y in .30-30 with a 16.5 inch barrel and 3/4 inch shortened stock that is my current favorite deer rifle. I added a factory large loop and safety delete kit and I sent it off for a takedown conversion and action job by The Arms Room.

I also have a Winchester 94 Trapper in .357 with 16 inch barrel. Both of my sons took deer with it when they were young and I've taken several as well as a few coyotes and feral hogs.

Both of these are great stalking rifles when I'm out moving around on the hunt on foot and the available shooting range is less than a hundred yards. I have other rifles for long range shooting.

I have a:
Rossi 92 Stainless Steel 357
Rossi 92 45 Colt
Navy Arms 45 Colt
Marlin 1894 45 Colt Cowboy Special (not short!)
Marlin 1894 CL 32-20
Uberti 1873 44 Special
Marlin 1895 Guide Gun 45-70 (early, ported model)
Browning 1886 45-70 (not short)

I already sold off several, two Marlin 1894C 357's, Marlin 1894 Cowboy Special 44-40, Marlin 336 44 Mag, Marlin 1894 44 Mag (first year), Marlin 336 35 Remington, Rossi 92 45 Colt, Rossi 92 44 Mag, Browning 92 44 mag., modern (2005) Winchester 1886 45-90 take down, an unknown number of inaccurate 30-30's, and a wonderful Browning BLR 81 in 308. Of these the only two I wish I still had, are the Browning 92 in 44 Mag (worst kicking lever gun I have shot, but accurate) and the 336 Marlin 35 Remington (late 5o's gun)

Yep, I like 'em a lot! They are great little brush guns in the thickets and handy as a pocket on a shirt for carry on a tractor or ATV! I own one in .357, a 30-30 and a 45 colt.

However, I also own some 24" barreled lever guns that I'm quite fond of. Variety is the spice of life!

I have quite a few 16" barreled lever guns plus longer ones. Most of them are chambered in 22LR, 357 Magnum , 41 Magnum , or 45 Long Colt. Winchesters, Marlins and Rossies

This one pictured above is a Marlin chambered in 45 Long Colt that I've owned for many years. The Tang site was already on it when I purchased it.

I don't know perhaps 6 years ago I converted it to a takedown gun.

I also had a saddle maker produce a roll for me so it could be easily carried

I have three lever actions with 12" barrels. Chambered in 22LR, 357 Magnum and 45 Long Colt. These are the Rossi Ranch Hands

Not really useful firearms, but they are a lot of fun. The only thing I still need is a holster for one

Yep. I think the longest barrel around here is 20". But I prefer the 16" guns, and have a .44 Marlin and couple Henry .357s with that length. Might just be a couple non lever actions around here too with 16" barrels..

Have had several of the 16.5" guns and actually prefer the balance of the 18.5". Only wish that Marlin made them in other than .357 Magnum.

Marlin made the 336 based 30TK in .30-30 as an exclusive for K-Mart Many years ago. Found one with a buggered up stock and was lucky enough to a walnut set that fit...it has a 18.5" barrel and 2/3s magazine... It is same overall length as a Marlin 39A CARBINE with 20" barrel and 2/3s magazine...

I actually have a 30TK that I bought new from Kmart . I recalled seeing in a reproduction Sears 1903 catalog a picture of a mod. 93 sporting carbine and thought it looked perfect. When I saw the 30TK in Kmart I had to have it.

I have one '94 30/30 - that would be the bottom one, and one Rossi 92 45 Colt. Again, that would be the bottom one. Both 16 ".

I’ve recently dealt or sold off all my post war Marlins except a
Marauder 30/30. Has been back up gun on many hunts, in case of gun problems. Shot a lot of varmits with it, short barrel makes it perfect truck gun****nning a Lyman 66 receiver sight it makes excellent rig out to 150yds.

Yes I have a couple of them.

Handy as all get out.
This Marlin 16" barreled STP, they only made 500 of them.
