Does anyone here collect antique (pre-1900) ammo or empty ammo boxes? If so, can you help me with a value for this full box of ammo from the 1880's? Thanks

Along with Smiths.....I am an avid cartridge collector.
I would encourage anyone interested in guns to consider checking out this link to the IAA (International Ammunition Association) website.

Some great stuff!
The journal that is put out every two months is well worth the cost of the membership.......full color and some serious knowledge there!

I got a couple of cigar boxes full of miscellaneous ancient looking ammo, from the estate of a man in his 90s, along with a S&W 1917. Some of the rounds look pretty odd, and I have no clue what some of them are. There are also a few boxes of period ammo for the gun, some half moon clips, etc.

I have intentions of sorting it out and taking some pics, to try to get it identified, haven't gotten around to it yet.
