Interested mostly in pictures of 4506 custom work from Novaks, C&S, etc like carry bevel packages and such for 3rd gen semi-auto's. Can't seem to find much on the net in the way of photographic examples...

Thanks!!!!

Not the answer you want, but I have not met a 3rd Gen S&W that was not already de-horned from the factory. I find the factory treatment to be better than most "melt" jobs from custom guys.
My best friend has a 4516-1 with a 4566 slide assembly on it, and it is VERY cool. I have seen a couple of nice custom 645s over the years, but most of the folks that own 4506s are happy with them out of the box. Not a commonly customized pistol. What specifically are you wanting to have done?

The only 3rd gen that I have an issue with sharp edges is my 5906.

The area around the magazine release spring housing at the back of the trigger guard on the right side tries to eat a hole in my second finger after a couple of hours. When I go to training days and weekends, I have to wrap that area in tape to prevent a big blister or sore from developing. It needs a melt job on that one edge.

+1. I have experienced the same thing with my 5906.

Here is a good looking nine from Novak.

There is just not a whole lot you can do to a 4506 that really need doing. Through cleaning and lubing will go a long way. Some folks want to touch up the trigger, but you can learn to manage the stock job.

New sights might be in order. The only real improvement I can see is for a gold bead to be inserted in the front sight.

Squidsix: New member here. If you don't mind me asking, did you start with a 4516-1, buy a 4566 slide and mate them together? Or how did you do that? It sounds like a great "conversion."

I did not do this, but I have shot it about a thousand times. The guy has both guns, and swaps slides. He gets a short slide 4566, or a "CCO" sized 4516.

when I packed 4563 CQB on duty for 5 yrs....one day, I was shooting and kept getting scratched and my the inside of my middle finger was raw....so I commenced to dehorning my entire gun with the intentions of getting in refinished. of course I kept buying guns so there was never no money for a refinsh. while cosmetically rough....this gun was all business. every sharp corner was addressed and this gun was fast handling.

Where did you get the rear sight ? Recently purchased a 4563 and would like to upgrade the sights .

brownells used to stock them. it is a Novak SW 3rd with a single tritium vial.

brownells dont show it anymore on the cataloge.

Not sure if Novak still makes it.

I bet a plain rear and Tool Tech will set the vial for you.
