Walked into the local den of iniquity Monday and was approached by the seedier looking than usual "proprietor"... Having been in his little shop of horrors a few times in the past he unfortunately knows too well what I like... After the first sentence "..would you be interested in any virgins today.." the rest of the conversation just became a blur.... I do recall the words, "Fiftyseven", "Seventyseven", "Consecutive", "Cases" and pedigree papers from some man named "Jinks".

There was also some talk about a younger sister who was mach "taller"...but had been "used"...so sad.

So I stumbled out saying something about calling tomorrow...and after a sleepless night thinking about what in the world I would do with two virgins and used sister I succumbed to temptation and asked what the bottom line would be for all three. The Proprietor's bottom line and my top line just happen to be the same so I went back and signed the paperwork to take them to their new home...

Once they adjust to their new surroundings I will take some pictures, if there is any interest...

Well I usually dont have much use for virgins as they lack the experience I require.

However, you do have my interest with the "twins" statement as that has been a goal of mine for a while.

Just a warning guys...I can see this thread deteriorating....dont get too carried away

I'm just the opposite of Curtis. I have no use for twins. If I'm going to have two, I want them to be different.

I do like virgins. I like knowing that I'm the only one to know how they perform.

Of course, I'm speaking about guns, I don't know about anyone else.

I have several virgins living with me and the only problem with them is my wanting to leave them that way. I actaully prefer experienced girls as I like to take them out and play with them. I draw the line when they get rough around the edges and look shop worn.

Nice looking set of guns by the way and a great addition to your collection.

...that is the problem with unfired older guns... I personally have never been able to "use" them and later just sell them... These two were just bought as investments and something to "toy" with for a while.

Ran into the previous owner at the gun shop yesterday. He is selling off a large collection of S&Ws mostly LNIB. Had sold one 4" blue 57 and another longer barreled one before I came upon these. Didn't see all the ones he left on consignment with the owner but it looked to be about 6 guns. Said his kids don't shoot, he is building a HotRod and decided to turn the guns into hotrod money as the kids would just sell them after he died...sad. Not sure what is there but anyone looking for a buy on some nice smiths might call Ernie Shipman at Renascence Firearms 603-335-4116.

In looking over the included paperwork, whoever unpacked the guns was nice enough to take the shipping labels off the outside shipping box and put them in the presentation cases. Too bad they didn't keep the shipping container and original inner boxes but at least everything else is there.

One thing I also noticed is that someone along the line replaced the checked grips that came from the factory with smooth presentation Targets...

Bob

ps...that is a BEAUTIFUL 27!

Superman-
I bought one of the consignment guns from Ernie right here through our own classifieds. I knew what guns you were talking about before you posted where you got them. In fact, all of those guns were for sale here in the classifieds, and most were bought by forum members.

Here is the one I bought. It is an S serial numbered M-57, built in late '68 according to S&W, and shipped in June of '70 according to Roy Jinks. It was still new and unfired in presentation case (although the interior isn't correct), with all paperwork. We're about to go dancing though, so I guess that'll change.

Seems like a lot of this "two at a time" thing is going on here so I'll throw in.

It just doesn't get any better than looking at blued steel and fine wood. The stocks on the 29 really pop!

Here is my addition to twin virgin consecutive sisters,,, 36-1 HB/RB in nickel,
They look dirty here, But that's the oil from 1976,,,, One box is not original,, 50 some came into a local shop from collector, and by the time I got to them, 1 box get swapped.
Tried for a year to find it, No dice.
Oh well...

They reside in the safe sleeping quietly, I sometimes wonder why I have them.... I think they are waiting for someone to have twin boys so they can fight over #14 and #15.

Thanks G4F, the 27's stocks are "grainey"(-is that a word?) on the front like the 29 is on the sides. Go figure!

Pred those nickel 36's are sweet! I know the answer to the "I don't know why I have them..." question.
'Cause we can!

GF,
I don't know if that's an actual word, but as an old carpenter, I darn sure know what you mean when you say it!

The front of the 27's stocks look really good in the last picture too. I seem to always get the ones that look like they were made out of Balsa wood.

Great guns, guys. Consecutive numbered pairs are not often encountered.
