Anyone know about old shotgun shells and boxes?

A friend and I bought some old shotgun shells the other day. I think they might have some value, well more value than just blasting away with.

I think some of the newer stuff is not worth much but perhaps the older Peters is worth something?

I think you are correct about the value of your items descending from left to right. Those two on the left would definitely be worth taking along to the gun show for trade/sale/estimate.

Are they full and are they the correct shells for the boxes? They are nice clean looking boxes but I often find mixed shells in older boxes.

Values vary a lot but if they are full and correct the first three could be worth several times the value of shooting ammo. The other two might bring a small premium but later boxes (and plastic shells in general) don't seem to be as popular with collectors. Does the first Peters box have the Kings Mills address on it?

That Peters High Velocity and the Victor boxes bring back lots of memories. That is the brand my grandfather bought by the case back in the early 70's, and what we grew up using, for hunting just about everything.
When he passed away, my brother and I got his old ammo and guns, and I still have about 150 rounds in my garage. No boxes though.

As boxes go, full boxes are always the best. These all look to have a little collector value. As you predicted, the Peters boxes have more value than the Remington. Like everything else, I think the market is down from what it once was. As for value, I would say as much as $20 for the Peters boxes if they are full and intact. Maybe around $10 for the remingtons to the right buyer. If any are empty, about half of the value.

Being a trap shooter, that Peters box is cool.

Old ammo boxes

Those shotgun shell boxes are are beautiful and are in excellent shape! I collect old ammo & boxes myself, and the ones pictured are relatively common. While I doubt they are worth much, they are beautiful collectors items and one day might fetch a nice buck. They will always be worth more if they have ALL THE ORIGINAL ammo inside. You and your friend enjoy them and open & close them infrequently to keep from beating them up.

Thank You for the response. The peters with the goose on the box, I have 17 or 18 of those boxes. They are all full of original shells and seem to have been stored away warm and dry for many years.

The Remington green red box, I have several of those, same thing full and nice.


The rest is a mixture of old and newer.
