Who might have made these grips?
They were on a pre war magnum
Thanks in advance

I don't know, but my guess would be Steve Herrett. The medallions were probably added later.
The skip-line checkering pattern brought the name ... Herrett's to my mind also ... but I can't say for sure .
They do look like Herrett's ... very nice and very classy !

Hello mchom

A very handsome set, I have no idea about the maker but wanted to ask if the wood is just dark stained Walnut or another wood?

I would bet that those are some older Herrett Troopers ( Not the Jordan Trooper ) As for the wood; it has a rosewood look to it.

This is a photo of Herrett Troopers I found

I'm also going to guess an early Herrett grip look. Always liked the skip checkering and Herrett is one of the few that used it.

Weatherby rifles used to have skip line checkering. I don't like it myself, it always looked to me like somebody screwed up.

Thanks Sam

I am not certain what type of wood it is. I don't think its walnut. Probably Rosewood as Sceva mentioned. But I am far from being an expert on the different woods used for grips.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

They could be Herrett's with old-style "checkering" like the ones on these High Standard pistol grips. I bet Hoosier45 knows--send him a message and ask him!
