I found a pair in a gun store while I was in California, they seemed a little too nice to pass up and after a very small amount of fitting work they went on beautifully.

I've come to a conclusion that not all stags are created equal, and each set can be pretty, or not. I am pretty happy with this particular set.

Anyone have any stags or jigged bone on their old hand ejectors?

Stags

I just mailed off payment for a set of old Sambar Stags this afternoon. They will go on a 3rd model 44HE model of 1926 that I just acquired. You can not have too many sets of stag grips, particularly if you have old guns from the 20s and 30s without their original grips. They sure do dress up those old shooters. This 2nd model 44HE for one.

They also tend to dress up this old 38/44 from about 1932.

Sixgun,

Those are the real McCoys all right and a good looking/matching set. Most of the genuine
India Sambar Stag sold today is pitiful with marrow showing on the surface and Elk antler just
doesn't compare. Good German stag and English stag from New Zealand can be had, and it's good.

My only set for a S&W: Pointer Stags from the 1950s.

I like them most on SAs:

I really like the look of the stag grips, but I don't know much about them. I see them for sale occasionally. The prices seem to be all over the place. Can anyone tell me what to look for when buying? What kind of price do you all pay ?

Grashorn Grips are really a premium product. Just FYI they are Elk

Antler however, as opposed to Stag Antler, as in India Sambar Stag.

Saying Elk Stag is like saying Ford Chevy, it can't be both. Not that big a deal until you

see someone trying to sell them as Stags and asking genuine Stag prices, which seems

to be happening more and more lately by confused people!

OK how can we newbies tell the difference between elk antlers and stag antlers?

Sent from my Motorola Flip phone.

I also notice that a lot of people mistake Jigged Bone for Stag. I really love the way Jigged Bone feels in the hand though, and if I had my choice between Elk, Stag, or Jigged Bone I think I would always go with a nice set of old Jigged Bone.
