I'm interested in learning from those who own a Walther PPS 9MM how they like it; reliability, accuracy, etc. A Shield seems almost imposible to find and the Walther looks like a good alternative, especially for a leftie.

Thanks all.

I am a southpaw who had one. Accurate and reliable with a wide variety of ammo (including +P+), but larger than I wanted for this particular gun so it's passed on.

If you were to do an advanced search here on posts by me ("Erich") including the world "Walther", you'd find several threads on my experience with it.

Have in .40. Very comfortable CCW. Love the fact you can remove the plastic piece over the main spring and render the gun unusable. Great for times when you need to leave in the car.

Mine has been very reliable. The round count is probably about a thousand. I don't find it much harder to shoot accurately than a full-size semi.

They're about the same weight and size as a G26, but thinner. The grip may be a bit longer.

I am a big fan of the PPS. It is my EDC concealed.
I have never "needed" it for defense. And I hope I never do.
However, I fully trust it if the situation ever arises.
I have never had a FTF or FTE with various ammo.
I carry the PPS with Winchester pdx-1.
The PPS is easily my favorite handgun that I have ever owned.

I love my PPS. My daily carry, except when I need something smaller. Then it's my Kahr .380. Had it for about 4-5 years, never a single problem. I'm at a loss as to why Walthers aren't more popular - my guess is they just don't market as much in the US. The PPS big brothers are terrific as well, P99 and now the PPQ. The PPQ has the finest striker-fired trigger ever. Fantastic pistol. I would buy the PPS over any other in this size, calber, niche

I've been looking for one for quite a while now. If it's any comfort, the PPS is one of the most popular ccw/BG carried by DEVGRU members; it has seen beaucoup activity in the sandbox.

I love mine. I carry it or a j-frame. No issues and its great shooter. There were some minor issues with the initial release but the PPS has been tweaked twice since then.

Should be easier to find shortly now that Walther is in the US.

I've had one for a couple of years. Great CCW gun, very flat, finish is impervious to the elements and sweat (very much a factor here in the south!). I carry mine in an IWB under a polo shirt without any problem.

I found one at my LBS, S&W 40...what a classy, tank like construction single stack. It's a hair's breath larger then my J frames with combat grips.

While I was at the shop, they had one Shield in the used gun display case, and comparing the two, I found the Shield's stipled frame less then attractive...reminded me of those cheap stiple jobs cheapskates did to their 1911 grips; real cheesey. Other then the cosmetic differences, they both are nearly identical in size and weight. While the Walther is priced about $125.00 more then the Shield, one can easily see why when one compares the two side by side.
