Anyone shoot a Henry 9mm Homesteader carbine

Read a thread on another forum - member was entirely pleased with his, saying it would become his new can/camp plinker, likely taking the place of his Ruger PC9.

I'm just waiting to find one for myself.

Looks like an interesting gun for sure. (But then, they all do!) I've not heard anything from anyone who has one yet, but I'm wondering what the realistic range is for that rifle? For a "plinker" I personally would stick with the .22LR. But there are other critters besides beer cans that a 9mm can dispatch to the promised land. Dad & I used .22s to shoot groundhogs out to 75 yards, so I would imagine the 9mm may be good for a little farther out, maybe? Or do the bullets drop down faster at longer distances? I like the Henry rifles, but I have no use for anything other than my .22LRs and .30-30. BUT, I have a grandson that I would like to get something nice for him. You know, a real shur 'nough brand new rifle. He's gonna be 16 this summer, and a new rifle is long overdue for him. .22 or 9mm, 2 cartridges that can be used for hand or long gun that aren't going anywhere in the near future.

My Ruger Ranch rifle groups well at 100 yards, 2" or less but it is scoped. I have shot it at 200 yard plates with success and a lot of holdover.

I've never even seen one, but just got an email a few minutes ago from Sportsman's Warehouse saying they were available for "pre-order." Two different models apparently although I can't see any differences from the pictures.

Looks like a winner to me

If I did not already have the Ruger PC in 9mm i would be interested.
Mostly because it looks less evil that an AR variant, or even my Ruger, and that would be appealing to me.
Not that its good looks will save it if an assault weapons ban is enacted nation wide.
I'm in to deep to get out on my Ruger, with 6 Mags and other accessories.
The 9mm in a rifle is a lot of fun, and make keeping 9mm ammo loaded a real challenge at my house.
To the effective range and accuracy. My Ruger will shoot into about 1 inch at 50 yards depending on ammo.
At 100 we are a 3 -4 inches, this is off the bench, and with a 1.5 power cross bow scope that I stuck on it.
I really need a little better scope, one of these days.

My Ruger PC is fun and accurate. Same as above post, about 1 inch at 50 yards with a red dot sight. But the simplicity of the Henry looks appealing and would make a nice, handy ranch rifle. Looking forward to seeing one in the flesh.

They come with 5 and 10 round henry mags with different different model numbers for M&P sig or glock magwells. I would be interested if they prove to be reliable and durable.

A LGS has one, or did as of a couple of days ago. I looked at it. It looks nice. (I believe it has a plastic stock or at least the hand guard. It looks like wood and could be but it sounds like plastic. Neither I or the others looking at it could tell for sure.) NOPE, American Walnut!

A pawn shop a block away had a Marlin 9mm Camp Carbine with one 659 type magazine in fair to good shape but I think they wanted around $900 for it which I thought was high. I think the Henry was about the same price.

I got to handle the henry rifle yesterday and the whole concept is a winner!
Biggest item is the ability to change the set up to use different magazines from different companies. However, they have a rear peep sight that is huge on the rear of the receiver.
It is a quality product and the rear stock in stippled nicely and gives you a good grip.
I would of bought it, but I am holding out for the 45 ACP version (Henry are you listening"??

I'm sure it will sell for a couple hundred under msrp after it comes out like the ruger pcc.
