Anyone shoot S&W's in .44 Russian?

Hi, Jim,

No, I don't know anything about it. He looks like a czarist army soldier, but Russian military is not my forté. I believe that somebody sent it to me a couple (?) of years back when we were discussing "cowboy" guns. You said it was in a heart?

Thought that image was familiar!

Jim, on page 93 of the SCW&W (3rd Edition) there's a photo insert showing the same fellow!

GB...nice image and great find!

yep, Digi - that's from the postcard.

It's an old postcard with this fellow on the front with the photo cropped in a heart shape.

I picked it up on ebay a couple years ago (only thing I've ever bought on ebay, i think) from someone in one of those -kystan former soviet countries. I'd be interested in learning more about the image. - Jim

Is that fellow posing with an empty scabbard? I know Cossack sabers had no guards to speak of and might not be obvious in a photo, but it doesn't look like there's anything in that scabbard at all. Maybe he's making a deliberate statement about revolvers being superior to swords?
