Yes, I shoot my two, a 38 Spl (Navy)and a 38 S&W caliber (Brit Lend Lease). The actions are smooth even for war-time production. I think they are pretty in their own wright. They are fun to shoot and feel good in my hands.

I have a couple that I enjoy shooting - both are .38 special. The one pictured below is as accurate as they come. I do find the Victory stocks a little less comfortable than the magnas that became standard after the war.

Regards,

Jerry

I have several Victory Models (.38 Special and .38 S&W) that I shoot. The most accurate of the bunch is the New Zealand marked gun shown below. It's not very pretty, but it's a a lot of fun to shoot!

Yep, my Victory Model is so satisfying to use. It was out for exercise just a couple of weeks back. It probably was scarcely ever fired before I got it years ago but has always had the finest, smoothest most correctly timed action of any Smith & Wesson revolver I've ever owned. It's outstanding! The revolver groups really well and is dead on with factory equivalent loads.

So many times I passed up great old Smith & Wessons and other firearms that used to be considered common and inexpensive, saying "I'm interested in that model but will get around to obtaining one later." Most times later never came. The N-Frame .38-44 Heavy Duty comes to mind. I can at least take a little comfort in the fact that I availed myself of a Victory Model when Victorys were cheap and not particularly desirable.

Bought a USN 4" .38 Spl from the estate of an old and very good friend (I never managed to get one when they were selling for #29.95 in the 60s). Other than the usual minor dings it was in excellent condition, smooth, and well fitted. It loved wadcutters, probably shoots as well or better than any .38 Spl. I have. With some guilt feelings I polished the trigger for better DA, and had Craig Spegel make me some nice stocks for it. I figured one offset the other.

Also carried one for a while in the USAF.

Absolutely nothing in the world wrong with them--fine guns, and should be shot.

Thanks your replies gents, good to see they are still enjoyed, will post pics of mine when I get time to do. They are battle worn, but shoot very accurately, my grandson loves to shoot them, they have also won me a few medals in the old military pistol competitions we have down here in Australia.
One of them shoots the 148g wadcutter superbly but does not like the 158g SWC of any persuassion, the other is the complete opposite will only shoot 158g SWC to a fault with 4.5g of Unique. They will be his one day.

I also find the magna grip aids accuracy but must use the original grips in competition. They are pretty hard to come by these days in Australia, the grips and the guns used to be advertised regularly years ago but not any longer.

Although the double action is a long pull, its superbly smooth, the triggers are heavy but that does not seem to hinder accuracy. I think they got it right!!
