I currently have Verizon DSL that drops after heavy rain. We have underground utilities here, and I think that the water/dampness affects it.

It poured the last few days, and the service keeps dropping off and coming back on.

Plus, internet plus landline (which I never use but Mrs. QD67 wants to keep) is $95 a month!!

AT&T has good cell coverage where I live, unlike Verizon, which is my carrier.

I looked into it before, but never did it. Now I'm ready to make the change, and also get the 1stNet phone service for 1st responders, also through AT&T.

Anyone have this? Good value? Reliable?

Any input would be appreciated.

I had DSL here in SC (out in the country) Speed was .6 to .8 incoming and .2 out. Needed it for security system. Dropped phone service and they cut DSL. Got a cell with Visible and used that as a HotSpot Ran 5 to 6 out and 2 incoming. Tried T-Mobile and it ran about same as the HotSpot. Daughter up the road 1/2 mile tried Verizon and I tried it. Now getting 38 to 50 incoming and 3 to 5 out. Have had it about a month and so far very pleased. I f we get a closer tower, it will double or greater speed. Make sure you get a trial and you can know in a few minutes how it works at your location. If you have a cell with HotSpot, might try it to see what speed you have with it.

I live on a little gravel dead end road. Have for a long time. When dial up was no longer viable I had a Verizon hot spot. Four or five years ago I visited ATT. I have DirectV as well. ATT had a rural only setup. Costs me $70 per mont. Can even stream ROKU stuff. Time to check prices again.

I use the T-Mobile 5G wireless internet and it's quite good. It's $50 a month all-in, price guaranteed for life. I'm on it right now while sitting in a State Park out in the sticks with 2 out of 5 bars. Wife is watching streaming TV and I'm getting 40Mb download on the speedtest. It's usually twice that with three bars in a better coverage area. One device, about half the size of a loaf of bread. No contracts. No equipment charge or deposits.

I use it in our RV. It's not meant to be a mobile hot-spot but so far they've let me get away with it. For now...

1st net all the way here. Great pricing and really good coverage area. The added bonus of having a device/network that is 'up' when everything else is down or restricted is really hard to beat.

We have several of the portable cells in case of emergency that can be deployed quickly from the back of a Tahoe or Ford Pursuit SUV :)

I will preface this with "I hate AT&T from a past dealing". However, I have wireless connection with my GM vehicle and it is provided by AT&T. I have to say that I've had no problems with it, even able to access the net at my sister's cabin when they had no WiFi available.

With any service, shop around. Be leery of locking into a long term commitment unless they are offering a smoking hot deal. And be aware of what the increase will be when the deal runs out and start shopping before that date.

Anything to do with ATT is lousy. I've tried them all.
Unfortunately, I'm still with ATT because the others are much worse.

I used ATT cell for several years, phone worked great in my area. If you do have to call ATT you may be disappointed. You may end up talking to a foreigner with a menu and it is awful. Even so, I now use Cricket(I understand it's owned by ATT) and have had no problems. Cricket has a store in town. $30.00 a month total.
