Anyone using a SA revolver for woods carry?

New model flat top 357/9mm. Smaller frame, the 115 gr 9mm is about right for coyote, badger, muskrat etc. Cheap Ammo, 15 or so extra rounds takes up much less pocket room than 15 rounds of 357. 51/2 barrel strong side in a simply rugged Cattleman holster. Works for me.

Between my Blackhawks in .44 and .41, I have enough to feel safe in any big head of wilderness.

My woods SA's are single six 32 h&r mag, lipsey Blackhawk 44spl or a bearcat converted to 22mag. During firearms deer season I care my late Uncle's 45lc vaquero because he can't.

Dang it: I haven't had any nostalgia for my .41 Blackhawk in the fifteen years since I sold it.

Until now.

Wife has a 41 Mag BH for grizzly country!

In the Mississippi woods, where both snakes and hogs are possible encounters, a 5.5" Ruger (old) Vaquero with 2 rounds of homemade #9 shot cartridges followed by 4 Grizzly 300gr +P WFN. In the woods of Northern Michigan where the snakes are harmless and the bears are shy, 642 with 5 rounds of 135 gr Gold Dot in my pocket.
