Anyone with experience or advice on vehicle traction mats?

Well I have never bought a "traction mat" I have taken the floor mats out and put them up to the tire to gain traction in snow. It should also work in sand!

Old trick I learned in the 1960s in snowy Northern NY.

I should think specialized "sand tires" would be more convenient and easier.....???????

We used to let the air way down on our Jeeps tires in sand. You have to be able to air them back up, this was before lighter socket powered air compressors.

As sar4937 has already stated, airing down your tires for added traction is your second best bet. What's your best bet? It's expensive, but if you absolutely want to minimize (there's no way to eliminate getting stuck, sorry) getting stuck in the sand, consider selectable lockers. They're available in either air or electronic actuated versions for most popular axles. Some vehicles even come with them from the factory, like my 20174 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon Edition.

Back in the day we bought 11.00 x 15 ribbon tread implement tires to keep from digging holes. We thought we had it good with positraction in the rear. The traction mats will only help you get unstuck, the object is to keep forward momentum and not get stuck.

Get some scrap carpet from a carpet guy. Works great, probably free .
