Apex Barrel questions.

I have a Gen 1 i cant seem to get decent groups out of and get a lot of vertical strings. I am debating on sending the slide to Apex for a barrel which i assume will cost around $300 or fork over $500 for a new 2.0 OR.

The 1.0 in question was purchased on my 21st birthday so its sentimental. I guess i am concerned that having a new barrel fitted may cause some issues. I am also concerned after all the money to upgrade the barrel it won’t be much of an upgrade.

Do you get bad groups off a sandbag? It's likely the gun is more accurate than you are. These things are also easier to diagnose with a dot since it gives you a better idea how much the gun is moving.

Put a cheap laser on it.
Watch the laser on target through trigger break with practice dry fire.
It’s a good trainer so you see how much you’re moving by just squeezing the trigger dry fire.
