Ok, I have replaced the sear and springs on the gun with the kit springs but the sear deactivating lever will not move all the way down. Apex has said that the spring plunger has a double step on it and make sure the spring is all the way against the top shoulder. I can't get the spring over the second shoulder, the old spring fits over it just fine but the new one will not go. Can I just use the old spring or not? Mine does have the smaller spring and should upgrade to the new sear block, but....

I would personally recommend upgrading to the new style block with the larger plunger. If you don't want to do that, we can send you a new spring, it's entirely possible that you got a bad sear spring and that's why it doesn't fit the plunger properly.

Please feel free to email me about getting a new spring if you'd like.

Scott @ Apex.

I had the same problem with the small plunger on my 45FS. I just ordered a sear housing assembly (from Brownell's I think) for $19, installed the APEX sear and spring into it and reassembled the gun. All is great now...except that while I was trying to get the small plunger into the small Apex spring, the plunger lifted off into near earth orbit and will probably be discovered by some future archaeologist once its trajectory/gravity brings it back to earth and who will wonder how such a small spring was made before nano-technology was perfected.

I did exactly the same thing but by some grace I was able to recover both pieces.

Thanks Scott, I sent you an email with my address and invoice #. Your post only listed your email as "scott@apex.", I added .com and hopefully you recieved it.
