I recently ran 300 rounds of 9mm Parabellum through my S&W SD9VE to test and evaluate a number of Apex Tactical Specialties products. The products include the Action Enhancement Trigger, Duty/Carry spring kit, and +3 magazine extension/baseplate.
The AET Kit gives the trigger a more 'single-action' pull rather than the factory 'double-action'. There is not a lot to say about the magazine extension other than the fit and finish are excellent, although I do hope it will be offered in matte black in the future. There were no malfunctions related to the baseplate that I experienced during the testing.
I tested the following 9x19mm rounds: Federal Champion WM5199 115 grain FMJ, CCI Blazer Brass 115 grain FMJ, Fiocchi 115 grain FMJ, S&B 115 grain FMJ, Tulammo BrassMaxx 115 grain FMJ (100 rounds). I experienced one malfunction due to a burr on the case mouth of a round of Tulammom though there were no malfunctions related to the Apex products at all.
All in all I think the upgrades are well worth it. I dare say that I may actually like it better than my stock M&P 9. The trigger is definitely less gritty than the factory M&P trigger. I will update my post as I continue to put rounds through this handgun system, as ammo availability and time allow.
Edited to add. The target pic below is 10 rounds of each of the listed rounds. Any perceived inaccuracies are due to me shooting offhand at ~10 yards. This target is one of the later strings after I had got used to the new trigger.
I would like to thank Scott at Apex Tactical Solutions for making this product test happen.
