OK, so it seems that Apex triggers are the triggers of choice for M&P 9mm. But which one and whats the difference?

I hear most people saying that the polymer trigger feels nicer than the aluminum one. i have not shot either of them, just relaying what i have seen others say about them.

If you're more concerned about the trigger pull weight and feel, you can probably get away with just a spring kit and machined sear. If the 2 piece hinged trigger is actually bugging you, then get the trigger.

I went with the Poly trigger because of the price and because I read the aluminum trigger was a little difficult to install(pin very tight).I hated the hinged stock trigger with the long take up. The poly trigger reduces the long take up and gives you that surprise trigger feeling with a crisp break. I may have had a small reduction in trigger pull, under a lb. of difference.I don't think I will ever go back to stock.

I went with the FSS kit with aluminum trigger. Install wasn't a big deal since I had a gun smith do it.

Much like you, the long pre-travel is gone - which was probably my biggest problem with the stock trigger. There's almost zero pre-travel now.

The FSS kit comes with the trigger return springs for different trigger weight. I initially had the 4.5lbs spring in the FS 9, but then when I had the kit installed into the compact - they used the 5.5lbs spring. I found I liked the feel of the 5.5 more so had them swap out the spring inf the FS.

I use the Apex FSS on both my competition guns (Pro Core 5" in Open class and 4.25" limited/ESP class). I use these pistols 6 times a week between practice and matches, I wouldn't want to shoot either without the trigger/sear combination. (it's that good). I have the stock trigger in my CC and production gun I have ~5000 rounds through it so the action is smooth, just long).

stock trigger

The Comp kit makes a huge difference and is a much better trigger system. The Duty kit takes some of the travel up, but is not much better than the stock kit.

I can't speak to the Aluminum kit, I've never had or installed one of those.

I got the duty carry kit and it is better than stock but not much. I didn't notice any difference until I switched to the aluminum trigger mod which now makes my Shield much better than my Glock's as far as accuracy

I had the Apex poly trigger and DCAEK installed on my Nov 13 build M&P FS9 in January 14 (or close to then).

The "hooked" OEM trigger seemed to hurt my finger after a few rounds at the range. The action on the press was gritty and seemed like the gun "jumped". I could actuallly look at the trigger bar and see the action "flex" from the top down view, with the slide removed.

I now have about 1,400 rounds through the pistol with these parts installed. I'm very happy with these mods.

Now, when I dry fire, the press is very smooth, right up until a crisp 'click' with no grit. I also like the blade 'safety' on the Apex trigger, as well as the revised geometry. My pull weight is right at about 5.5 lbs.

Very very happy with the Apex parts.

Cannot speak to the Aluminum trigger, never felt one.

My parts were installed by a local gunsmith.
