Anyone else carry a Smith & Wesson K Frame in the appendix position?

I occasionally carry a 2" Model 10/12 or 2.5" Model 19/66 in a Lobo holster. Recently, I found that the 3" K Frames carry just as well, better in fact, than the 2". The extra barrel provides stability. It stops the grip from tipping outward. The Ahrends Combat grips minimize printing, as compared to stock magnas.

I agree with your comments and when I do it’s this NY-1

Nice. I have a 3" NY-1 too, but it spends more time in the safe. You know, the 3" NY-1 is uncommon. A little more "collectible." I have a pile of ordinary 3" Ks that I am more willing to stick in my sweaty waistband.

This particular 64 has an interesting history. Mentioned it on here before. Stolen from its previous owner's vehicle center console and later used to rob a Waffle House restaurant in Salisbury, NC. I have all of the police/court paperwork. Talked to some of the witnesses. It has the best trigger.

Maybe I'll carry the NY-1 occasionally.

Was that your duty weapon?

What holster setup are you running? I have been attempting Appendix with a 3" k, still haven't found a comfortable position, using a JMCK rig

Yes how are you carrying. I recently acquired a 2” 10-6 DAO

That was not my service weapon the 3” RB was referred to as the Lady Smith in its time lol. I do love it and have owned every NY-1 variant at one time or another which was a professional benefit of working at Rodman’s Neck for 20 of my 27 years in the NYPD.

Revolvers were plentiful and alot of guys and gals wanted to get rid of them when they retired or to get a few bucks towards funding an off duty semi auto after they transitioned to a semi auto service weapon.

This one I kept as it was from a female Lieutenant that was like myself merged into the NYPD from the NYC Transit police. It is an early NY-1 as seen by the finish, serial number positions and NY-1 stamping.

Here is a pic of the NY-1 die which is still in the Range gunshop to this day

I use this holster from Lobo Gun Leather. Use a similar holster for Colt D and Smith J Grame carry. Lobo makes a K size. Snatched the photo from Lobo Gun Leather's website (credit). Lobo makes fantastic holsters. This clip and the Enhanced Pancake OWB are among my favorites.

Not trying to start an argument here at all, but I never really understood the allure of carrying a loaded firearm directly over your "junk". Aside from that it always seemed that it would be fairly uncomfortable while sitting and would give a person with bad intentions too much ease and opportunity to snatch it from you.

As an Instructor and range Officer, I preach gun safety to everyone I can. That said, no matter how diligent we are accidents can and do happen! That is just something that happens to humans. No one can be 100% razor sharp 24 hours a day/365 days a year for their entire life. I just hope when we have a bad day, it doesn't result in any injuries!! I'd hate to have a bad day when appendix carrying!

Obviously I am the odd man out here on this subject since so many seem to favor appendix carry. That's OK, just PLEASE be very careful, the choir doesn't need anymore Soprano's.

I for one favor strong side OWB for carrying either a revolver or a semiautomatic pistol. Second option is pocket carry. I always carry with a suitable holster that’s MADE particularly for the gun and carries it safely and securely. And I TRY to ALWAYS practice safe gun handling when drawing and holstering. I know Murphy is alive and well, so I try to mitigate ***** from happening.
That being said, I know that IWB and in particular AIWB are very popular, especially in today’s world. AIWB has its benefits and/or advantages but to me it’s an acquired taste. And it’s certainly not for everyone.
As a firearms instructor and former police officer and full time gun carrier I will occasionally carry AIWB. But I reserve that mode to either a revolver (with either a hammer or a long double action) or a semiautomatic pistol (either with a hammer or a GLOCK with a Striker Control Device.)
