Have 2 Aero Precision m16a4 clone stripped receivers and want to try my first build. Any advice would be appreciated such as tools needed videos, etc. would it be best to stick to Aero Precision lower kits and uppers? Is fcg part of lower parts kits? BCG seperate from kits? What else will I need? Thanks for help and suggestions.

Maybe three years ago I assembled a AR15A1 from an A1 parts kit, a new McKay barrel, and a McKay lower receiver. I’ve only assembled the one McKay lower and it was fairly easy. I followed a YouTube video on the process. Your lower parts kit should contain all the fcg parts to make a functional lower. I found a photo of all the lpk parts and laid mine out the same way so I easily find the next part. There may be an advantage to using the lpk from the same manufacturer as the lower, but my lpk was ex-GI and came with the A1 parts kit so I can’t tell you. The restricted FA parts in my kit had been replaced or modified to SA only. You will need a stand that fits up inside the mag well to hold the lower while you install parts. Since I was only assembling one lower I made a stand out of 1x3 pine with a piece fastened as a shelf for the mag well to sit on. Other than taking your time i found it fairly easy.

Tools needed:
Roll pin set(starter pin set helps but not necessary)
Non marring hammer
Barrel wrench or armorers wrench
torque wrench
receiver block
1/4 x 2 universal clevis pin(makes putting in the pivot pin spring and detent much easier.
painter masking tape( for protecting the receiver when installing the bolt catch pin.
Woodblock for supporting the ear when installing the trigger guard pin, they make jigs for this but really not necessary.

Parts pretty much run the gambit, those will be a personal choice depended on budget.
I've built dozens of ARs they are really quite easy to put together.
As a recommendation concentrate your funds on good barrel and trigger they are the heart of the firearm. You can get a nice drop in trigger that will be much superior to a milspec for about a 100 bucks. I've got a drawer full of milspec triggers that I've replaced for people with better triggers.

I'm pretty sure that's about it if forgot anything I'm sure someone will correct me....

If you do a google search there is an ar15.com website that will give you a step by step process to build.
