AR magazine?

Does anyone know what this is mounted on the fore end of the black rifle? Is it some sort of belt feed?

The upper you see with the magazine and rounds in it laying perpendicular to the barrel is for a different round than the 5.56 (I believe it is for the FN 5.7). These uppers are designed like the one shown and what you were thinking was an attachment to feed belts is really the magazine.

Correct, it is an upper chambered in FN's 5.7 and uses factory FN mags.

Those uppers are in a lot of ads in Shotgun News.
If they were cheaper, and the ammo was cheaper, I'd buy one.

I agree, a 5.7 mag on top of the barrel with a vertical foregrip mounted to the under side of the barrel/handguard.

Yup. And the empty brass gets ejected straight down out of the magwell.
