AR weight?

That weight doesn't seem accurate, as the rifle is nearly 7lbs stock...
Have not a clue what mine ways, but not much over stock... whatever the additional weight of my optic and mount was. If I had to guess, I'm probably at 7lbs, or a hair over since my rifle was nearly 6.5 lbs stock.

Tapco stock? Did you buy the rifle used?
The light weighs over 4 ounces. That is 1/4 lbs. right there. Per the spec sheet, the rifle weighs 6.85 lbs. stock.
6.85 + .25 = 7.1
I've read that the Magpul MOE stock is heavier than a standard M4 stock, but not by much... an ounce.
It's probably close, but I think a scale that has the firearm hanging from it, like a fish scale, would be more accurate.
ETA: I guess I am just surprised that the rifle is that light compared to mine. Most quad rail rifles I have shot have seemed heavier than mine.

I haven't ever bothered to weigh my rifles. All I know is the one with all the doo-dads is heavier than the simple one.

I think this is a good topic. Like Japes and Cypher, I haven't weighed my rifle and really don't have anything accurate to weigh it with. I suppose I could get on the bathroom scale and then pick up the rifle... but just getting on the bathroom scale depresses me. 
It might be interesting to see how much folks have weighed down their rifle with optics and accessories. Some guys might be surprised with the tally.
I don't like to add a lot of heavy stuff.

I mounted just the rear part of a Magpul handstop, eight LaRue Index Clips and two partial ladders. Can't be more than an oz?
Swapped
CTR stock (around 2oz difference) compared to generic.
Magpul aluminum trigger guard, IWC QD endplate, Hogue grip. Not sure of weight difference for those three.
So even keeping things pretty much bare bones, I have still added added 11oz or so for optic and all...
It might be interesting to see how much folks have weighed down their rifle with optics and accessories. Some guys might be surprised with the tally.

Is the original stock on the M&P 15T not a Tapco? And the listed 6.85 on the spec sheet is with the magazine included......?

My stock 16" ML-1 started around 7.35 pounds with a 7" solid free float tube and a heavy match barrel. After a full remodel with Magpul CTR, Spikes milspec tube, spring and ST-2 buffer, ambi sling hook, large BCM Gunfighter, Sadlak LP LN gas block, Troy 13" Alpha rail, DPMS Miculek brake, EOTECH EXPS2-0 I was at 8 pounds. That remodel included getting rid of carrying handle and front sight post.
I replaced the Eotech with a Vortex scope which bumped me too a heavier than preferred 9.6 pounds. I may eventually try and shave off some weight by using a carbon fiber tube instead of the 13" Troy rail. Of course all those weights are w/o mag & ammo. For more casual close up outings I can always slap on the Eotech for a more nimble gun. So easy to put on the weight... and that's with no light, laser etc. Right now it feels more like carrying a M14 Socom with that scope than an M4.

No, the original stock is just a standard, mil-spec type stock.
As far as the weight, that is a good question. I assumed that it didn't include the magazine, and the compliant version with the 10 round magazine lists the same weight on the spec sheet.

That bare weight is going to depend upon many variables. Barrel profile, mil-spec or commercial receiver extension (buffer tube), exactly which furniture (stock & hand guard), carry handle or flat top and so on.

Well, at least you have probably eliminated all recoil.

I have noticed if one of my AR's becomes heavier my wallet becomes considerably lighter. Also noticed heavier AR's stay at home more than light ones.

Believe it or not, my .22lr AR feels like a pig compared to my Sport. The .22 has a big chunk of metal upfront in the form of a non-functioning, railed gas block, with a metal fixed front sight post. The rear sight is a fixed metal, chopped carry handle style rear sight that was pulled from my son's M&P 15-22. It also has a Bushnell rds, mounted on a UTG riser.
I don't have a true weight of it, but you can feel the difference between it and my Sport.
