AR15 Carry Handle

I like the look of the AR15 carry handle on the S&W 15-22 so I went down to the local gun store today to buy one. I told the guy that I wanted the handle with a scope mount that attaches to the handle. He told me that I really didn't want to do that because the scope mounts to high and I would have a hard time shooting it like that because my cheek would not be on the stock. I have seen quite a few 15-22's and AR15's with this setup so I am wondering for the guys that have their gun setup like this is is harder to shoot like this?

It isn't the ideal setup for the reasons given by your gun store guy. However, there are scopes with built-in mounts that sit very low into the carry handle. Below, the center of the rear sight aperture to the center of the scope eyepiece is under an inch.
