As Isaiah and I were getting ready to leave to take him to school this morning, I went to the Pathfinder with his school bag and then came back to get him as I normally do. When I got to the front door my heart stopped. Here is Isaiah squatting down inches from a HUGE spider (I'm not entirely sure what species it was) that had been right outside the front door when I opened it to go out to the car. He was about to poke it with his finger as he said; "look what I found daddy". I told him to get away from the spider. He did as he was told, but as he did he told me that it was dead. I explained to him that I didn't think that it was dead, but even if it was he shouldn't mess with Spiders. Just as I said that, the spider decided to come on in and make herself at home. I say herself because I think that the spider had a big egg sack on it (not sure though). Anyway, because of that I didn't want to kill the spider in the house and have hundreds of baby spiders running all over. So, I grabbed a broom and evicted the spider after taking the following photo. This kid is giving me gray hairs!

hard to tell from the photo but it appears to be a common wolf spider, not harmful to humans but as I said hard to tell from the photo, best bet would be google wolf spider and see what you get

Wolf spider mammas carry their young on their back. The first time my wife stepped on one of those and the babies scattered to every point of the compass was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Well, she didn't think so, but I did.:D

Similar happening to me and I was also not amused. Squash one and then there are 10,000 little ones bailing out. (sound of Flamenco dancer for 5 minutes) I think I got all the little horrors. I was about 6'2 and 180# at the time. Fortunately I was unobserved at this particular "magic moment" in time.

Ever been bit by one, no you will not die, but you will be sick and the bite area will look really bad until healed. I use to believe they were harmless too, not anymore!!!!!!!!!!:eek:RH

Thought I would add this, watched her all last summer, spun her web every evening. Went from a tiny little thing to the size of a 1/2 dollar including legs. Took photo @ nite to capture the detail of this creature of the nite!:DRH

I am working on a siding job with my cousin. He owns a construction company. We were pulling down the old siding yesterday and there were brown recluse everywhere. I killed over a dozen of them myself. It made my skin crawl because I have been bitten by one before and it is not a fun thing to go thru.

Years ago in Chatsworth Ca. my cousin moved into a house with siding that had been abandoned for years.
The first night with a spray paint can with a nozzle on it and a flashlight I killed 78 Black widow spiders. About another 30 more the next night in the garage and surrounding area.

I like spiders ,a lot. But if they poisonous ,they must be terminated

Several years ago I found this big, ugly spider on my front porch. I don't know what it is, and I didn't try to kill it because I was afraid I would just make it mad. I didn't want it to come looking for me while I was sleeping.
