Are Chromebooks safe?

My IT guy likes Chromebooks the best and recommended one for me. If someone wants to check up on me all he has to do is look in the back of my house because we don't have any curtains or blinds on the windows in the back, we live on an acreage and want to enjoy the view.

I've had a Samsung Chromebook for several years, (using it now to post this). It's been great with no issues or glitches. I've got most of my more private documents saved to an external hard drive which isn't kept online, and only random photos and some music saved to my Google Drive. I can't say there's anything I don't like about it.

I've come to the realization that it's about impossible to enjoy the internet and some other technology without leaving behind some type of digital fingerprint.
