Are you a good shot?

To answer the original question I am a good shot. It's like my harmonica playing, I'm good, not great. Either shooting or playing, the more I practice the better I get. I can hit a can on the edge and sometimes split it in two.

Am I a good shot? I guess that would be in comparison to others.

I can't shoot worth a darn compared to a lot of folks on the Internet. I do pretty well in comparison to those at my club.

There's just something about Internet that brings out the best in shooting! :D

With a .45 caliber bullet, you have almost an inch windage margin of error. so if there was something behind the card I could actually see to aim at, sure with a few tries.

Wide meplat for the win! :D

I have a mold that casts a similar 215gr bullet for .45ACP. The rounds are a snug fit in a P220 magazine. ;)

Never tried. 30 years ago it was no small trick to hit a nickle at 10 yards, now with adjusting the bifocal between sight and target it is not nearly a sure thing.

Years ago I was on a goose hunt with a few friends. We had a professional guide, and the guide had a thing for Sandhill Crane. Our hunting party was in a line along the likely flight path of the geese, and I was at the far right end of the line. It was a productive goose hunt. All of a sudden the guide starts calling two Sandhill Crane coming in from my left. As the cranes fly by every hunter on the line fires their two or three shots as the birds pass. The birds are unscathed. I'm the last hope. I fired two rounds from my Ruger Red Label 12 gauge, the back end Sandhill Crane folds and drops from the sky. The guide went wild. A buddy sent his dog to get the bird. When my friend handed me the bird I said... I think it would break the heart of our guide if I told him I was aiming at the head of the lead bird and got tailend Charlie instead. :o

I don't know about just picking up a gun and splitting a playing card on the first shot, but I'm thinking it wouldn't take that long!

I think I know what I'm doing today...

And...I failed! I was all over it, and it moved a few times, but no split card. 15 rds of .22, then 10 .38s. Time to bust out the Model 19. Maybe it will take longer than I think!

I know what I'm trying the rest of the summer...

I did a few match tricks as a young man, never the cards though.

Was thinking about giving it a try once my shoulder heals.

Know what you mean....

People telling me that for a good SD string of bullets you need to chew the center out of a target at 20 yards. That AND it's a piece of cake. You should put them through the same hole in target shooting.

how come so many of you say you can't shoot as well as you used to?
i think you guys are slacking off.
i work hard every week at getting better n usually, i do.

ge isn't the problem. it's lack of practice.
