Are You Content?

I should say that while I am content, I do like all-metal handguns. If the Sig P365 or one of the Shield variants were offered in all-metal, my contentment would lessen to a much larger degree!!!!

I think I have all the antique Smiths that I need (not want), and most of the Ruger SA's that I want (but not need). Been expanding into ones that fill a niche, 22's of various types, and not expensive. So far, good with a pair of Taurus TX22 semi-autos.

A favorite topic of discussion with my friends is how we would pare down our collections to just a few firearms, and which ones we would keep.
Need vs. Want is a driving force in the list-making.
A SIG 365 and Rem 870 with a few barrels would just about do it all. That leaves a lot of room for paring!

While I am content with my modest accumulation of .38/.357/.45ACP handguns, I am still hearing the siren song of the Sig P365.

Maybe today?

The "needs" are covered but if you have the addiction, the "wants" will never end. Even at over 70 years, the wants are still strong. I have been saying to myself just one more and that's it for over 50+ years but that hasn't worked out too well!!

NO!

I NEED a rolling block in .32-20. I NEED more .32-20 revolvers. I NEED more .44 Special and .45 Colt revolvers. I NEED more CW era muzzleloaders. I NEED etc., etc., etc...............................

NEED I go on? :D

All my life, I have been sympathetic with this viewpoint! :D

The sense of urgency regarding it comes and goes in cycles. Right now, very little “new” is being produced that interests me, and I have never been into antiques. I have what I need, but that doesn’t mean I won’t buy if something interesting comes along.

My firearms hobby is not a competition to see how little I can own when I die. I enjoy all sorts of guns and I enjoy SHOOTING. Right now my main concern is reloading components. I rarely buy factory ammunition. I am “content” with the weapons that I own, but I am far from serene about the cost and availability of reloading goodies.

Experimented with different options from the late 70s until about 1990.

Settled on 3rd Gen Smiths, Beretta Compacts/ Centurions and P-series Sigs. Revolvers S&W K/L-frames.

Been content for awhile!

A DA/SA 365 would get my attention.

I'm content with what I have, and I have several that I don't really need but can't bear to sell just yet. Then there's the new guns that haven't hit the market yet that will catch my eye...:o

Part of that is it's such a hassle to sell guns any more.

I have been accumulating firearms for nearly six decades. I have been collecting for maybe 4 of those six. To me, there is a distinction. I have sold several collections, in order to finance the next one. For the last 3 years, I have been taking 2-4 firearms a month to the local internet auction house. So, as far as the accumulation, yes, beyond content.

Now, I collect S&W ACP revolvers. There are several blued ones that are not currently represented in my collection. I am looking for those.

Will I add to the accumulation/ Maybe, if the right deal comes along. Or, maybe not.

Will I add to the collection? Of course.

Just ordered a(nother) SCT-19 completed frame...

Guess I'll just have to be content until I get it finished...?

Cheers!

I have everything I could possible ever need, but my wants change a lot. Currently I wouldn't mind having a 357 and 44 levergun. I've had them before and found I lost interest, but for some reason I want them again now. I've done that with a number of firearms over the years.

There are a few handguns that I haven't owned at 1 time or another. Never owned a 27, 15 snub, CZ75, or an H&K. But I can easily get by with what I have. Bob

In my older years, I have found slow fired/well placed shots give me great contentment. Extremely accurate single shot and bolt action rifles seem to work best. I have around 20 rifles that fall into this category. I'm always looking for another.
About 35 years ago, my wife noticed I was Tossing and turning in bed and wanted to know what was wrong. I said a gun store friend had a then current German Army Sniper Rifle. It was $4000 plus extras! She said it wasn't what we had saved money for, but get the money, buy it and get some sleep! I replied, I didn't shoot the Remington sniper rifle I already had. I rolled over and slept like a baby. You could say that contentment came from just knowing I Could!

I am blessed with a nice collection I have amassed over the last 24 years. Have everything I need and more and should be content, and thought I was. Until I rewatched ‘Training Day,’ one of my favorite movies. Suddenly I have been looking at S&W 4506s and Beretta 92s. You know, gotta have the guns of ‘Training Day.’

It’s a sickness. A good one.

A great movie. Supreme acting by Denzel and Ethan’s performance was also top notch.

I’ll start working on my “Good Bad Ugly” guns soon by Cimarron.
But I’m also wanting the dual cylinders by Cimarron/Uberti.
38/357/9mm
And the 45ACP 45 Colt.
Very pretty

I still have a bunch of pre 1982 Smiths not in my collection.
Bee. Collecting/accumulating for less than a year and got the sickness real bad with almost no immune response.

I'm content with what I have altho I wouldn't mind having an older 4" model 19. I have the 6" and 2-1/2" already. I old and don't shoot anything well anymore. Arthritis in my hands is bad news for a pistol shooter. I don't want any more new guns, quality is down the tubes.
