Are you happy with your Shield???

Prior to reading this thread I'd never heard of an UpLULA but it couldn't have been more timely as I went to the range just today and put 200 rounds through some paper and my thumb is a little sore. Already ordered one. As for liking the Shield, yes, with the exception of my index finger feeling a little tweaked.

You will enjoy the UpLULA:

After some initial problems the first time I took my Shield 9 to the range, (limp wrist hand-hold), it has performed flawlessly. I have several hundred rounds through the thing after that first day and love using it. I would not hesitate for a moment purchasing it again. I'm "very, very" happy with my Shield.

So far I like it. Have only 100 rounds but no issues yet. It's better built than my Kel Tec PF9 it replaced.

Just picked up a shield 9 yesterday, put 100 rounds through it today. Had a problem with the slide not locking back after the last round fired.
With help from this forum, found I was covering the slide lock lever with my thumb preventing the lock from engaging the slide. Altered my grip and problem solved.
Gun is very accurate and trigger to me is fine, although I haven't shot a 1911 so maybe I don't know what a good trigger feels like. I had a G26 and think the shield trigger is just as good or better.
I love this little gun already!

my wife said it was too heavy. She has the BG380 to carry and the Shield 9mm on the night stand

Great gun this MP 9mm my opinion is the best. I didn't like the action, trigger pull was gritty sent it back to S&W explaining to them got the gun back what a difference.

Just wanted to update on my last post made in December. In short, I LOVE this pistol! Initially it was tight and I had I think 2 FTF that I now strongly believe was due to a 8 round mag that was much noticably stiffer than my other mags. After a good cleaning it loosened up a lot. .. I have since then disasembled all of my mags & clean them with Hoppes#9 after a day at the range & the problem has disappeared. 600 rounds later, no issues at all, and it is a joy to shoot at the range.

I really like my shield. It's one of the newer (no safety) pistols. The only problem is that it's very hard to insert the 7 round mag. Works okay if you only load 6.

It seems to be a problem inherent in the Shields, at least the 9mm. The problem was solved beautifully for me by installing the MagGuts kit by Corso Inc. at magguts.com. The kit replaces the factory follower and spring with new ones that retain the original factory spring pressure but allow for one extra round. What I have found is that the new follower and spring create a little MORE than 1 round of room, which creates a little extra headroom at the top of the magazine, now loaded with EIGHT rounds instead of seven. The result of this is that the magazine seats FAR more easily in the magazine well with one in the pipe than it did before! It’s a Win-Win situation!

I've owned my Shield 9mm for nearly 2 years now and to date I have put over 8,235 rounds... I bought mine new with the intentions of being my EDC. I practiced with it, passed my CHL class with it, I used it in IDPA matches. It is with me always... Since then I replaced the stock sights for a set of Ameriglo night sights. part# SW-345. I had to replace the stock mag springs cause they got so loose. I bought replacement springs from Wollf. A couple emails to S&W cust service & guess what?
They sent me free of charge not one.... but two brand new RSA's....
This is truely an amazingly well built pistol that's worth every penny..

Below are pics of the night sighst after they were installed last yr...

Extremely happy. I just purchased the new 9MM Shield, no thumb safety, with tritium night sights. An outstanding pistol - much better than the first one I bought right after they were introduced.

Go Get Them

We love our Shields. My wife and I each have a .40 with tritium night sights that we purchased in January. No problems whatsoever, although I had to return mine twice to S&W to have the front sight centered. No hassle with customer service either. My wife wears golfing gloves to shoot and rack the pistol because her hands suffer somewhat from arthritis. With practice, the guns are easy to shoot and very accurate. We recommend them.

3 years + 3,500 rounds + 1% failure rate (ammo related) + Trijicon Night Sights + Apex flat faced FSS AEK + Traction grips = happy owner

It's no longer my EDC but I still conceal carry it during the colder months. The Apex kit made the biggest difference. It's got a light trigger at 4lbs but with the safety and lots of practice I'm okay with it.

I have had my 9mm since they first came out. No problems, great gun.
