Are you still seeing ammo shortages in your neck of the US?

I'm in the Raleigh, NC area and it's still pretty dry. Walmart is getting it in on a regular basis, but it's quickly snapped up. I see .40 remaining on the shelf the most, but it goes after a day or so. Some gun shops have a little, but they are charging more. Some are gouging, especially at the gun shows.

Still short supply here in SW Florida, but getting better. At least local gun shops have some to sell now, where a few months ago they would sell you 2 boxes max and ONLY if you bought a firearm. The prices are double at the gun shops for what they do have vs Walmart or Bass Pro Shop. I have found that both these stores are hit or miss. I have gotten lucky and scored a few boxes of my .40 S&W a couple of times at Walmart by going in every day on my lunch hour and checking. Yesterday I actually hit the jackpot at Wally World as on my daily lunch trip to the ammo counter I noticed an unopened case (5 - 100 round boxes) of .40 on the floor that hadn't been put on the shelf yet, all of which I immediately purchased! Range time this weekend, YEAH! As for Bass Pro Shop (I shouldn't give away my secrets, but I know how hard it can be to score ammo) call them (ask for the hunting dept) every morning and ask if they got your ammo in (call when they first open, because the ammo only stays on the shelf minutes after they put it out) and if they have what you are looking for they will let you purchase and pay for it by credit card over the phone. Since it's now paid for they will put behind the counter until you can go pick it up. Hope this helps...
nice advice on bass pro pro i did not think of that thanks :D

22's, 40's, powder is loosening up some. primers still almost none exsistant where I'm at. I do live in a anti-gun/pro gun-ban state.

i found some more .40 cal today they also had some 9mm and 357 but nothing else this was at turners outdoor i bought two more 50 round box's so i have 400 rounds now. but that will be gone by next week i am going shooting tomorrow and next week

Must be par for the gun loving state of KY, only thing I've seen at stores for a while are .25's and .357sig's. I did snatch a box of .40 Hydra-Shoks at my gun shop before that shipment was cleaned out.

Its still slim pickens in these parts. I found 3 boxes of Federal 40 S&W in Walmart day before yesterday. First time I'd seen ANY pistol ammo in this particular store in months. Say what you will about Wally World but they haven't jacked up their prices. I paid 12.97 per box. Pretty sure that was what I paid PO - pre Obama.

Out West

I'm still waiting for delivery of backordered ammunition from several internet suppliers. Examples: .38 Special ordered from Midway on 3/24 (most recent estimated delivery date, September), .45 ACP ordered from Cabellas in May (estimated delivery date in August), .45 ACP (different manufacturer) ordered from Cabella's two weeks ago (estimated delivery date July 24). I'm not holding my breath on any of these estimated dates. For example, the Midway date gets re-estimated every two weeks or so.

Went to wallyworld today and they had 100 round value packs of .223!! Got six of those. they also had the usual .40, a couple boxes of 9mm (which I bought), 550rd bricks of 22lr (got a couple of those), had some .357, .38, and the other various rifle calibers they always have. Lots of shotgun shells.

Also bought some more Shoot-n-see targets too. It was a good day.

J,
I'm N of Seattle, what store were you shopping at? Also, what were they getting for the 9X19?
Thanks!

Hi Spotteddog, I am in Spokane. The 9mm was $8.97. I jus read your post on the Wolf .223 for 1000rds. Thats a good buy! thanks

Here in ND, I've been buying a box or two here and there of 30-30. During the handgun ammo/reloading supply shortage, there was always rifle ammo (including .223) on the shelves around here. Scored an occassional brick of 22lr. However, now that handgun calibers are actually on the shelves, I've noticed the rifle ammo is dwindling. I've currently got 200 rounds of 30-30 stocked up and have the components to load at least that many rounds. So I'm good for a few years with hunting ammo. Figuring one box each for the wife and I to sight in and hunt with, majority of lever action practice is done with the Henry 22lr

Before the panic driven shortage, i had also managed to stock up fairly well on 22lr bulk packs. Very modest compared to some members stocks but once again, I got enough for our purposes. Been reloading 38/357 for over a year, so the only caliber I'm short on is 9mm and that is coming back on the shelves at reasonable prices.

Hand is quicker then the eye

In Phoenix,

I paid for Winchester &/or American Eagle 9mm 50 for $15
Federal 22 for 50 $7
Blazer 45 $18

Within several days gone, the whole pallet.

I am pretty sure what you bought was PRVI Partizan and my only problem with this stuff is that I can't get enough of it! I bought a couple hundred rounds of their 38 Special after getting so disgusted waiting for "you know who" to get some ammo on their shelves and I have never looked back! Glad to know someone else carries PRVI. I have purchased it from Wideners and AmmunitionToGo.

I was at the Hattiesburg Gander Mtn the other day and that had just about everything. Lots of .223 in Black Hills, Wolf, PMC, Rem and Lake City 20 rd boxes $14.25 ea. My local Walmart has been getting alot more in also. They had several 100 rd 9MM Win. $20.47 a box and CCI 50 rd $9.47. Plenty of .22lr.
