Since I'm in Vegas and I've never been I made the 140+ mile trip north of Las Vegas to Area-51. Last night we drove up and stayed at the Little Aleinn. Then around 8:00 am made the trip to the Area-51 border. About a half mile before we made it to the line a big Ford truck comes speeding behind me, I'm in my 08 Civic going 20 mph so I pull over and let him by. I thought it was just another civilian but it was the security force trying to beat me to the warning signs and get to his post on the hill.

As I come around a turn and between two hills on this narrow dirt road I spot the camera's on the hill and that big Ford truck on another hill to my right watching us with binoculars. It was pretty exciting, I didn't even want to get out of the car at first, it seemed a little sketchy. Didn't get any pictures, the guard would have probably came down and busted my camera.

If your ever in Vegas rent an SUV and make the 2 hour trip, its a lot of fun.

Change of topic - if you're still in LV and have a little time, you might want to wander over to the Hoover Dam and take a look at the bridge they're building to span the Gorge. It's 300 higher than the top of the dam which is 700 feet high by itself. It's an incredible project.

He would have inspected your tinfoil hat first. Shiny side out and you're okay, shiny side in and you are obviously a threat. :D

Saw Elvis!!

I got a ride on the mother ship and met Elvis. He was still fat.

You know you went all the way down there, hoping for an anal probe.

I am LOL literally.....didn't see that one coming.....can't even.......type.....seriously, gotta go now;)

Careful poking around out there. The area is contaminated, not only from nuclear tests going back decades, but the secrecy on base caused problems with trash disposal. Thus with a slight work of the pen, the law was changed so that EPA regs and what not didn't apply out there. Thus all sorts of toxic junk was simply dumped into open trenches and burned. This killed a number of the contractors doing said burning, but their resulting lawsuits were blocked.

The little gray dudes are elsewhere. Don't play cards with them. They can read minds (sort of, it is a long story). Don't trust them not to cheat. They're creepy to baby sit anyway. Skin texture is off and they move sort of strange.

Generally someone has to keep an eye on them. You don't get a pistol any more if you're they're liasion. Something happened back when I was a kid. Back then the Army SF types were escorts when groups of them came through. Someone had a Browning Hi Power that they didn't want to give up and there was some sort of scuffle that turned into a shooting that turned into all sorts of problems. That was before even CAR15s, let alone M4 carbines were issued, so it was a bunch of Swedish K guns and old M3 Greaseguns. The old .45 ball rounds actually worked sometimes since the EBE's garments - again it is complicated - but their early ballistic protection on them didn't work well against low velocity threats. Thus the old .45 would drop them when an M16 wouldn't. That was a long time ago though.

The Grease guns were the only thing handy at the time in any numbers that were suppressed.

Security on the outer levels is just Wackenhut. If you stir things up a bit the black Messerschmitt helos will come buzz you. That's mostly just to scare the tourists away. Real security deeper in is either Federal police, service branch police (aka MPs and what not), NASA security (depending where you are), or in a few cases the NSA's hirelings.

If you'd have told me you were coming I'd have baked a cake.........sproink gloop muk zizzap!!
