Could anyone recommend a good gunsmith around Phoenix for a trigger job?

You don't indicate the type of firearm or type of trigger job you want.

Nonetheless, in Phoenix Frank Glenn can do just about anything you want done to a gun; Nelson Ford is also said to be superb.
 
Thanks I'll give one of them a shout on Monday.

The problem child is a brand new M27-9. Poorest S&W single action trigger I've ever felt.

Either one of those gents is more than qualified to address anything you need on a S&W revolver. Along with the trigger work of your preference, I'd ask them to walk though the revolver stem-to-stern and address any spec they don't think is passes muster.
 
Good idea. When I first took it out of the box it had a small section of what looked like paper sticking out of the front of the rear sight recess. Just waving in the breeze like a flag. I pulled the sight to remove it and found it to be tape. No idea why quality control would ship a pistol with a piece of tape sticking out of the frame.

So I guess having a good gunsmith take a look at the rest of this piece is prudent.
 
The guy I've always used is Nelson Ford, located in North Phoenix. He specializes in S&W revolvers and has always done a superb job on mine. His business is called The Gunsmith. Yes he does good work, but he can be a very big peckerhead, especially to new customers.

For example I witnessed a guy that wanted work done on a Glock and Nelson went into a rage that I could not believe.
The next time I was in his shop he was working on one for a friend.

Nelson Ford did some trigger work for me. He did a good job but his eccentric ways out weigh his abilities. I don't think I would use him again.
 
I've noted some of the comments on Nelson Ford. I've known him for about 20 years. Like many skilled practitioners from ditch-diggers to politicians, he can be opinionated and sometimes vocal about his opinions. But to give him his due, his opinions are more often than not right on the money. Some would call him eccentric; I'd rather describe him as having the courage of his convictions. I'll tell you this - if he gives you some information on a S&W revolver or a 1911, you can take it to the bank.

As but one of a number of examples, he turned a run-of-the-mill Model of 1988 625 .45 ACP revolver I brought him into absolutely the smoothest and most accurate wheelgun I've ever shot - including a primo Python. He knows his stuff, and will do whatever it takes to make his work absolutely perfect.

He specializes in two types of guns, and his work on them has merited him high praise from experts. Those two types are S&W revolvers and 1911 pistols. IMHO he is one of the very best on each type. He has always done sterling jobs for me. This guy probably knows more about the ins and outs of S&W revolver lockwork than 20 other gunsmiths you can even think of.

Take his purported eccentricities with a grain of salt - I, for one, enjoying bantering with him on a variety of subjects. He will always be my "go-to" guy when I need something done right. I don't make my recommendations whimsically, they are always based on my experience with an individual. Nelson is A-OK in my book.
