I just went to Cabela's in Omaha, NE, and bought a Bodyguard 2.0. I brought it home and quickly realized it has a bent Recoil Spring Assembly after racking the gun and noticing it wouldn't properly go into battery all the time. In addition to that, my trigger dongle barely dongles. It's as if the dongle is your average 21 year old modern kid who couldn't care less about doing the job he's paid to do, and sometimes I can even pull the trigger back to dry fire the gun using the sides of the trigger without actuating the dongle (I didn't notice this problem of the trigger at the store because they have these red trigger guards which covers the entire trigger). Furthermore, of course, the front sight is off center.

After I went back to try to exchange it, they conceded that the RSA was a problem, but they acted like the dongle that doesn't dongle wasn't an issue and said the other three they had all acted the same. I've watched a ton of reviews of this gun, and in all of them the trigger dongle kicks out far and once slightly pressed there's pressure to kick back out to it's normal resting position. Mine just basically rests limp at all times like it's in need of Viagra. Has anyone else seen or heard of this trigger issue?

Smith, if you don't care about Quality Assurance, why crappily manufacture a good gun in America when you can crappily manufacture the same good gun but for half the price put together by Ching-Chong and Fyuk-Yu in China?

In a city as large as Omaha, I think there are LGSs that will treat you better than Cabela. Your gun shop should let you dry fire and field strip the pistol before you pay for it. If you can't find such a store, you can buy from Bud's Gun Shop. https://tinyurl.com/4rwn2vh5 You get free shipping and the $399.99 price if you pay by wire. (but you will have to pay an FFL fee) Bud's will pay return shipping if there is a problem (like a non-functioning trigger safety) as long as you reject the pistol before you pay for it and then there is no FFL fee. I recently bought a BG 2.0 at my LGS for that price. They not only let me dry fire and field strip, but they even hand cycled a mag of my favorite ammo through the pistol while I watched. Not sure many shops will do that :)

The bent RSA has been a problem. Bought two 2.0s from the same store, they were fine, but on another visit the guy we bought them from offered us replacement RSAs as they'd gotten some guns in with defective parts and they had replacements on hand.

I know Cabela's puts their trigger locks on everything, and as the dingus is plastic, I wonder if that's what caused the issue on your gun.

Contact S&W customer service tomorrow. I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts that they’ll have another RSA to you in two shakes of a lamb’s tail.

Once fired, your trigger safety might come back to working order.

Thanks for the replies! I am wondering too if Cabela's trigger locks deformed the mechanism, but like CommunismDelendaEst said, maybe once fired the trigger mechanism might come back from 6 feet under 🤔. Here's to being optimistic lol.

So does two shakes of a lambs tail mean something quick, because my buddy has some sheep and those things just run away as soon as you get close, so it would seemingly take a long while to grab a hold of its tail in order to shake it twice.

Just to be clear, it's the lamb that does the shaking. :)

Nah, the dongus isn't supposed to be in the depressed position all the time. It's possible the trigger lock did it, or it was simply broken. The shop should give you a swap on a brand new gun.
