Started off as a Dem. Been a Republican for several decades and now back to a Dem after the polls showed he couldn't win the primary. "The Annointed One" says he'll back his senate race as a Dem. I suspect he's looking at retirement. He's been successful at playing the political games for a long time but I think his luck just ran out. I'm gonna send Toomey some money. I don't know him and I live no where near Penn.

How do you spell "narscicist"? I don't consider him a Benidict Arnold like Hannity calls him, but In the end B.A. ended up in a friendless limbo. Similarly, the GOP will consider him a traitor and the Dems won't ever really trust him. They'll want his votes which they get anyway, and speak highly of him in public. But he'll never really be embraced by them. A sad guy dying for exceptance. Unfortunately, his self centered desperation is gonna screw up this country. Hell of a priority system.

I heard him on the news babbling something about not being conservative enough to win the next Republican primary for his seat. Him being a moderate Republican and all.

Does he think he will be liberal enough to win a democrat primary? I guess the dems and the pres have promised to raise money, campaign, etc for him, in return for switching over to their side.

He comes off as sounding like a self-serving jerk who will do anything to hold his seat. Can't win it as a republican? Ok, run as a dem...

he was elected as a rebublican, he should not be able to change mid stream, let him out of office them if he wants to change so be it

I am thinking that Arlen wasn't one of us, when it came to AWBs and the 2A. If that's so, then now he's where he belongs, if not, then someone from the Land of Ben & cheesesteaks please correct me.

Wow, Caje, you want us to just come out and call him a traitor? It wouldn't even be fair to compare him to Benedict Arnold. Arnold served with honor and distinction before he became a traitor. Ole Arlen just waivered and wobbled, doing his best to read the wind until he collapsed.

But I don't assign any high morals to the Republican's, eitehr. He could have a change of heart and the spinless senators would welcome him back as family. Until the next election.

Remember PA elects some pretty awful folks. I give you Murtha as an example. PA is way too close to NY and NJ for its own good. Both physically and in its citizens. It would seem a slim majority of them are scum sucking dirtbags, just like those representing them. Where's my freeshit.

Is there anyone who doesn't think there's a payoff for the treason? Earmarks, maybe a few choice pieces of legislation given the nod, or maybe a few changes that will help him next year? I think I'd prefer to compare him to a prostitute than Benedict Arnold. I probably have more respect for a traitor than a cheap whore like the good Senator.

The problem with Pennsylvania is that it has Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

Took me 30 seconds to find and post this.

Remember, Pennsylvania has good gun laws.

Which gun laws would those be? Alaska and Vermont have GOOD gun laws, all others are an infringement.

By his own comments, Arlen "Magic Bullet" Specter, cares not a whit about the good of the country, it is all about his career. Specter is the national poster child for the R.I.N.O. movement.

I have never considered ole Arlen a real Republican anyway. He always seemed more Democrat, but that may just be my impression, rather than a true study of his voting record. I agree with Dick on the prostitute analogy.

HEY NOW! I love Philly! Well kinda... I like walking around the older parts of the city (I almost always check out the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall.. you just gotta) and the cheesesteaks. That's all... Other than that though........

The guy is 79 years old and wants another 6 year term?

I can't figure out if we're a gerontocracy or a kleptocracy. Either way, same cast of fools.

Some of you more mature members might remember that he was Ira Einhorn's defense attorney on a murder charge and got him released on a 40K bail. If you want to know who Ira was just Google him.
