The Armatex iP1 Smart Gun previously covered has another disappointing datapoint to add to it's troubled existence: besides being a disaster as a gun per one test (see linked test below), it's 'safe' technology is apparently easy to defeat - just hold a good magnet up to it. From the technology that has a long way to go department.

While the kid in your home you want the gun's smart system to stop from using will probably serve it's purpose, it is still amazing how easily this 'sophisticated' system was defeated with $15 worth of magnets.

And now the complexity of clearing a malfunction goes up exponentially. Was that failure I just experienced electronic or mechanical?
