Gunbroker is like eBay, goes all over, Armslist is like Craigslist, more local. The advantage of Armslist is no problems with guns not as described or nonpayment. I suppose there is a slight chance of getting robbed although If I was going to rob someone it would not be someone advertising on Armslist. You can also search nationwide on Armslist. If Armslist has a rating system for sellers and buyers i am not aware of it, it is pretty much intended to be local. I sold several items ( no guns) on Armslist and I am happy with the results.
Use some caution with Armslist.There have been several scammers using borrowed photos and asking buyers to wire funds.

I have used it with zero problems. CASH FTF ONLY! Never wire or send money.

I use it often. Local forums are better. (we have Vaguntrader which is awesome)
I have also used it with success on a cash only FTF basis several times

I have sold and bought several guns through Armslist. It's geared to those who want to know what's for sale and what's available locally, and yes, FTF, cash, driver's license, and CCP required to buy my gun, and for me to buy your gun. I use a pre-printed bill of sale which includes all the info I need, and the buyer needs to cover both our heinies.

I just used it for the first time last week. E-mailed and spoke with the seller several times. He was local and the transaction was face to face and cash. Turned out to be a nice guy and we knew some of the same folks. I got waht I wanted and he got what he wanted. All was well.

I've used both sites and enjoy them. Gunbroker you will need to register and pay a small fee to use, but it's worth it. Sometimes you can get a deal. Have sold a few guns on Armslist and also traded one recently on there. Just make sure when you are dealing with private sales that both of you meet in a safe location, like your local gun shop parking lot (do not ever let someone come to your house) and that both of you fill out a bill of sale. Keep it in your files in case you ever need to protect yourself. You can download a free one here. I always write in my ads that I only sell to those who will show me a valid driver license, ccw license, and/or pistol purchase permit signed by county sheriff. I don't do out of state sales either (as asked by user My Toy above), as that's how most people get scammed. Keep it local if you can. A lot of scammers will try to get you to send a firearm and never send payment. I make sure to communicate first through emails, then have a lengthy over the phone conversation (the phone conversation usually gives me an idea about weather they are serious and responsible gun owners.)
