Lot#1731 hammered at $4750. I have no idea what OTD price is.

Any feedback from ASP owners/collectors?
Cost to buyer: Hammer price of $4750+ 17.5%+ State tax + shipping ($831+$332+50)=$5963 Out the door.
That's just nuts ….. in my opinion

max503, long story short. A guy in NYC, took your 39-2 and chopped it all up and made a smaller gun. But, did a beautiful job.

Be it an ASP or a Glock 17, the most important thing to know is that friends don't let friends bid on items at RIA. I could name a couple of other places with the same "business" model.

Armament Systems and Procedures. The ASP is a custom made handgun designed and built by Paris Theodore from the early 1970s to 1987. The ASP was based on the Smith & Wesson Model 39 or 39-2 pistol employing a shortened slide, a fixed bushing and a unique Guttersnipe sight system ( a narrowing U-channel with fluorescent yellow panels that would form three triangles, all pointed at the target when the sight was properly aligned.), clear Lexan grip-panels, a fully ramped and throated, shortened barrel, and a smoothed and radiused profile to ensure no risk of snagging on the draw. The ASP featured clear Lexan grips allowing the shooter to see how much ammunition is left, a rounded hammer, a hooked trigger guard and no front sight.
Another key way of describing the ASP is that at the time it was offered, the 469/669 and 6904/6906 guns did not exist.

You could argue that he created a whole new class of handgun.
So these are historically significant.

One could argue that S&W got (stole?) the idea from the ASP and Trapper and other custom guns that gunsmiths were making out of the Model 39 and 39-2. In fact, Dwayne Charron says as much in his book.

Im looking for some feedback on carrying and shooting the ASP.
If any Forum members shoot, what load did you use? Or are the prices getting to high to just retire to the safe.

Hello Kevin, Yes I bought one, A144911, with 2mags. Back in the 70s I had a few ASPs pass thru my shop. But I never got to shoot one. And never saw the guys that bought them after they rec. the gun. So, life is to short so at 75 yrs old I bought a nice 1st gen ASP. I dont think anybody that bought one is around anymore. Mike
