ATF / Acetone soak

How long do you generally soak well rusted parts in 50:50 ATF / Acetone? I have some rusty motorcycle parts to clean up.

I generally let parts soak for 24 hrs.

I mean Very Rusty parts, like relic condition. I thought it was 3 weeks or 3 months. When they came out the corrosion was gone and most of the original finish was intact.

If you're looking to actually dissolve the rust, evaporust, phosphoric acid, molasses or electrolysis will fill the bill.

Chrome? Painted parts?

Only bare metal and probably black oxide parts; no paint or plating in the bunch.
