I got a call from a Special Agent with the ATF this morning. He wanted to talk about the full length 3rd Gen 9mm upper I got off EBay.

Seems there was a major firearms theft from their Virginia Branch, and the slide I got was from one of the stolen guns. They drove three hours to come to my house to get it. They were very nice and sorta apologetic, but left me with a confiscated property form.

I’m working with EBay to get a refund so I guess I’ll see.

Just wanted to give everyone here a heads up.

Well, that's a different way to spend your day! Mama Mia! :o

You must have an honest face. With my luck, I'd be in jail by now! ;)

Of course I was initialy nervouse, but since I have already concented to the ATF being allowed into my home 24/7, (CCRFFL and NFA Stamped Weapons,) I calmed down. I don’t have anything to hide.

Yes, the slide came from Pennsylvania, Bedford actually. How did you know?

I did get a positive feeling from EBay, but now I’m worried about all the other S&W “stuff” I got in the last few.

Exactly what I thought right away about serial numbers. The Agent smiled and said many of the firearms were stripped down/parted out. (Like cars?) They got the main guy, so maybe he told them where some of the items went. Why they came down for a slide, I DO NOT know.

Not sure of the time frame, I bought the slide 02 Feb.

I know this sounds unbelievable but it is real.

Same thing happened to me last Friday evening. It was almost 7:30pm, when two ATF agents came to my house and confiscated a slide with barrel that I bought from a seller on eBay from Bradford, PA. I contacted him right away thru eBay. He has issued a refund for me but it is yet to hit my bank.

The officers were very friendly.

It’s past my bedtime but I’m doing my best to focus...

* So, you’d go to jail

* While in jail, you can’t attend gun shows or buy from internet auctions.

If you PM me your mailing address, I have some gun components to send you.

:D

Parted out stolen Glocks, you would think they could make more money selling the Glocks on the streets.

The good news I guess is you weren't arrested for receiving stolen property.

It would be really tough to show intent in the OPs case. In CA the prosecution must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant received the property, that the property was stolen, and the defendant knew the property was stolen.

NEVER

I never underestimate the corruption and dishonesty of some prosecutors.

We have a case in Colorado were a State Trooper investigating an accident and,was struck and killed by a tractor trailer. The truck driver did not move over or slow down. You would think slam dunk. Two mistrials because the prosecution with held evidence from the defense at both trials. To top it off because of the misconduct the Judge throughout the felony charges. Now it's just some misdemeanors.

Thanks Gary, (N4KVE,) I found it. I did not see that “all over the news.”) Don’t worry, I don’t want/expect your 4th like for mentioning you appreciatenly. Not a word but should be.

Interesting that much of the theft was just uppers from retired government weapons.

The ATF Agent said that over 750 guns were stolen. I suppose that number was counting the MANY top ends. (?) Sure took a long time for the ATF to admit the theft. I would need to report such an event right away. ;)
