A fellow Forum member relinquished his ownership of this fine handgun to me today, and what a gun this is. It arrived in a 2 piece Gold Box, marked "Austin P.D. 197." This revolver was shipped 12-3-63, in the 7th of 8 shipments. 197 is in excellent condition, and shows no signs of being returned to the factory for refinishing.
Enjoy

Congrats on that Austin PD Larry. Looks like that one stayed in the desk drawer more than a holster. I have a mod 27 APD and would not mind adding a 38/44.

Spectacular! I didn't realize that any of the APD .38/44s had survived service so well that they did not need refinishing. That one must be the new centerpiece of your collection.

Really Want One

Congrats. That HD is very nice. I really want one and have been looking for 2-3 years for one. As a side story, I was in high school 300 miles away when Whitman started shooting. My friends and I were loading up our ammo and deer rifles to go help. I guess we thought the fight could last for days. Senseless killing like that was considered such a horrible act the common Texan was outraged. Being at UT also fanned the flames.

Excellent, Larry. The tribe grows! I'm looking forward to seeing a display of your APD guns at an SWCA meeting. Perhaps at Baton Rouge next year?

Bob,
You will see me in Baton Rouge. I may even shave my face so folks won't think a hobo is in the building.
Larry.
