SOLD .357 Registered Magnum 4" shipped to Utah Highway Patrol and factory inscribed on the right side plate "Utah Highway Patrol 27". Serial number #56459 and Registration #4034. According to the Roy Jinks signed factory letter the gun shipped August 19, 1938 to Salt Lake City Hardware Co., Salt Lake City, UT and originally shipped with a 6 1/2" barrel. It was apparently returned to Smith and Wesson in June 1954 to have the 6 1/2" barrel shortened to 4". It is assumed the gun was reblued at that time but if this is the case, I can't tell— it looks much better in person than in photos. It is definitely NOT an obvious reblue. The gun was apparently retired from service in 1955. The grips are numbered #59804. Includes factory letter dated July 22, 2003. Formerly of the Gary Garbrect collection, then was owned by Allen Latimer.
