Rolled up for the Traveling Shoot Straight Orlando Fairgrounds gunshow. A shell of it's former self, it's basically SS and a half dozen 01 FFL's as far as guns go. Lots of ladies hawking "fashionable gun accoutrements" too. Nobody had good prices on anything except for the one ammo guy with 1K MagTech 9mm ball for $309 even with $21 tax you're out the door for about $.33/rd. Getting better. Everybody charging $10/box 50 Aguila 38gr "Super Extra HP's." I got a case of 40 boxes for $166 delivered a month ago. I never have seen so many Glocks in one place, everybody trying to sell them for around $600. Khaled (Shoot Straight) had the only S&W revolvers worth taking note: 4" 31-1 in perfect shape for $1095, a 2" 34-1 RB in perfect shape for $1295, a 4" 19-4 for $1195, and a 57-? (P&R) for $1595. They all were atop matching new looking boxes. A few Colt's from OP for $995 up to a Python right at $5K. I figure somebody local died or divested. He also had quite the collection of older Weatherby rifles, the .340 MKV was sexy but at $2395 I couldn't swing it. Just the thing to give me "scope eye" @ almost 70.
Doc remembered he owed me $50 from the July show, good thing, I plum forgot. His buddy, not speaking a word of English, related his story about killing a home invader in Venezuela with a Browning P35. Harrowing tale: sends daughter to open security gate, guy grabs her. He pulls gun, second, armed guy grabs girl as hostage, 1st guy tries to get in house. Forced to place gun at his feet, hostage taker lets girl loose, fires twice with .38, clips dad, who picks up 9mm and hits armed intruder 5 out of 14 shots. Ball didn't kill bad guy quick and no reload. Fortunately, help arrived, carted off stiff and searched for other guy. He carries a Sig 226 here now. My Spanish comprehension is steadily improving which is essential if I want to be part of the conversation. No lunch today, Doc had to rescue ex-wife from washing machine crisis, now. I'm sure current wife will give him a "report" later. Life is good. Joe

gunshow

The gunshow I went to today in central Texas was a waste of time. Lots of flea market stuff, only thing I saw interesting was a nice 2 inch M-10. I did see a WW1 Warner-Swazy musket telescope for the M 1903 Springfield rifle. That is the 2nd one I've seen here in the hill country in 10 years.
